Re-Construction 8: (Stack & Tilt)

In this, what should be my final installment for 2010, chronicle of my swing change; I'd like to point out that I'm very glad I went back to what I thought I should be doing. Last year, when I started really looking at the Stack & Tilt swing, I felt I was really on to something. With more instructors and more correct information out there in cyber space, I'm very confident that I can be playing very good golf going forward. For 5 years or so, I had a bad swing, undpredictable ball flight, and no idea how to truly get better. Now, I have a real understanding of my golf swing, ball flight, and how to self correct. I've still got to put in the time to improve, but it doesn't feel like work and I know that the things I'm working on are correct for me and my improvement. My handicap hasn't come down on a consistant basis, but that'll happen. Stack and Tilt is for me. I'm drinking the Kool-Aid (so is Tiger believe it or not).

Rosey's Recent Run

Don't look now, but Justin Rose won again. If not for a tiny blowup at the Travelers, he could be 3 for his last 3. If you didn't know, Justin Rose recently started working with swing coach Sean Foley. I really like Foley's swing concept and he's very knowledgeable in many different fields other than golf. Some people will argue that Foley teaches Stack & Tilt, but Foley is quick to dismiss the notion. However, if you read some articles about his work with Sean O'Hair, the language is strikingly similar. But that's another subject.

Re-Construction Part 2: (Stack & Tilt)

I began breaking my swing down around October 28th. Went back through my S&T DVD's and started the analysis. I got some really good advice from the guys at the Golf Evolution in Erie, PA. There were some minor adjustments to be made to my interpretation of the swing pattern. I'll include some video of my swing (granted just hitting some plastic balls in the yard). My first trip to the range produced solid results. Mostly tight 3-4 yard draws and a few pushes. Last week, I did some more analysis trying to get into the perfect positions. This caused me some problems. Something I'm realizing is that I really have to stop analyzing and trying to get things perfect. I need to make this pattern 'my own', get comfortable, and produce repeatable swings and results. At the range today, I tried to get the shoulder plane steeper among some other things. It just screwed me up. So I stopped, regrouped, and started swinging comfortably. Results the same as last week. Tight little draws.

This Crazy Game

I'll never stop being amazed by this crazy game of golf. How we can play so well and come back and play so poorly. Confidence is a huge factor. After playing 2 decent 9's out of 5 last weekend at Pine Hill I wasn't sure where my game was headed. I st...

I don't know if any of you were fortunate enough to play in the member/guest tournament. I've got to say that I've played the course a few times and I'm always impressed with everything they do. However, this was the most pleasant experienc...

Improvement is goooooood...

I've been putting the time in for improving my golf game. I set a goal during the winter that I wanted to break 90 before this season was over. In just 2 weeks I've already reduced my handicap by a full stroke. There's still plenty of room for improvement of course. As long as I continue to improve throughout the season, I can get to my goal. I've played 3 official rounds so far and have had mixed results. The first outing of the year, I told you the story of my lopsided 9's. (42 + 59) Then I played a practice round on good Friday at a par 68 course (no slope or rating) and shot an 89. Played easter sunday in some heavy wind and managed to shoot 100. The Vineyard course beat me up on Monday. Well, maybe not the course, it was my swing. I went back to some old habits and wasn't really concentrating on my routine.

Semi-Competitive Rounds

Let's start by putting it out there that I'm a high handicapper. Most of the people I play with are much better than me and that keeps me focused. However, I've played just about every sport out there and have always been very competitive. The other ...

Training - New School of Thought
Posted by dday39 3/4/2009 8:43:22 AM

As some of you may or may not know, I began a commitment to training just prior to the new year. I began with golf specific training twice per week to build core strength and flexibility, as well as some golf specific excercises. I'm now moving into a new phase of my training, strength and mass. I can already hear people commenting. I figured I would share some new info for some people of an "old school" train of thought.

Okay there's not much Tiger and Stevie don't do well together. Will Tiger's surgically repaired knee help out the timing between these 2 on their attempts to high 5. They are simply miserable at this.
