As I've mentioned in some of my other blogs; winter golf in NJ is pretty much non-existant. However, a while back I asked Mother Nature to intervene so that I could get my golf 'fix'. They were calling for a high of about 50 degrees last Friday. Since it's dead at work, I knew I had to get out. I hit the range around noon to loosen up and then off to my home course. I've been working on my swing a lot. I've given myself 3 or 4 simple cues. This has made for an effortless golf swing that is in perfect balance. The course was packed and I joined 2 younger guys. Once we were able to tee off, I sent a power fade right down the middle, leaving myself about 90 yards to the green. Though I came away with a bogey, it was a sign of what was to be a great day. I wasn't thinking of scoring, I was concerned with making good contact and playing the shot in front of me. The greens were bumpy due to the winter weather and that cost me a few birds, but I couldn't care less. Golf in January is a bonus around here. I was bombing the driver (even my bad shots were only 10 off the fairway), irons were crisp, and my wedge game was decent. Being able to get out Friday set me up for one of my best weekends this year and I'm so looking forward to playing regularly once the weather breaks.

I love this game.
