Been working on this shot lately and not having much luck. Been all over the Internet looking at different techniques and trying them out. Rear ball position, middle ball position, break the wrists or not, pinch the ball, etc. It feels like I'm producing a lot of spin, but when it hits the green, it always releases, most of the time it doesn't even slow. I use prov1s, my wedge grooves have been sharpened... I'm out of ideas.

I can perform the shot on bentgrass greens but not on bermuda and I spin the ball a lot.

So it matters what kind of grass? Damn, all the greens I play are bermuda.

Bermuda greens are not hard to stop it but you need to abbreviate the follow thru.

Need good, clean grooves; a soft cover ball; CLEAN contact with ball back or back to middle of stance; downward strike with your aim about 3 feet short of the hole; and abbreviate the follow thru. You will get a very predictable first bounce and balls stops on a dime at the 2nd bounce. With Bermuda you really have to use the grain too. Most greens slope back to front, making the stop predictable, but if it slopes away... it will release. As long as the contact is clean, you can stop it the same way from light rough too. (Ball in front of stance will always release)
