When you watch golf on TV and the camera is set up behind the player, their shot almost always looks like it's going hard right off the clubface. More than just what you would expect from a pro hitting a draw.

I've heard that this is just an illusion based on TV camera angles. Sort of like the camera adding 10 lbs. I think I heard it explained one time, but I don't remember how/why it looks that way. Anybody know?

Granddaddy said " Don't believe anything you and only half of what you see"

I have noticed that shot trajectory and asked myself the same question.

Just rhe camera angle most of the time but some pros do like to hit that huge sweeping draw. You cam really see it when they do the shot tracker.

Its called the Rolling Shutter Effect.

Even knowing that I still laugh each time I see the picture.

Not sure if you watch baseball, but its the same affect. The camera is not even close to being directly behind the pitcher. You don't realize how far off center the camera is. It makes it impossible to call balls and strikes from that much of an angle. The same thing during golf coverage. The camera is not directly behind the golfer compared to his intened target.
