Remember the glory days of golf, way back in November of 2009? Tiger Woods was the most iconic sports figure on the planet & Accenture was the proud sponsor of Mr Woods, and everything that he stood for. Well, 1 crash, 14 trangressions, and 3 months later Accenture dropped Tiger from their roster. A move that would be sure to hurt any athlete. Flash forward to today.... Accenture, the title sponsor for the Match-Play event, began their Tournament in Arizona with 66 of the Best Golfers in the World (except the Top 2) and who do you think showed-up and stole the show..... Tiger!!!! In true Match-Play fashion Woods trailed Accenture throughout much of the day.... but with everything on the line Tiger really stuck-it-to-them by strealing the Headlines for entire week. A BIG F-U from Mr. Woods to Accenture.... "that'll teach you to drop me!!' - nice way to run off a Title Sponsor. Tiger always has good timing.

Perfect revenge move by Tiger. I may not like him but he can be brilliant at the right times.

Accenture has not heard the last from Tiger.

a sponsor shows some character and drops the biggest name in sports regardless of the money they could lose and now Tiger is getting revenge, he announces a cowardly, no questions news conference 3 months after the fact ( so much for cojones) and he steals the show? once again the Golf Channel let this announcement smother their coverage of a great event with 64 of the best golfers in the world, so i blame them for the over-exposure. Tomorrow he will make his statement and once again be out in the second round of the Accenture. hopefully Golf Channel will let us enjoy the remainder of the tournament without repeating the same information every 10 seconds. also, for all those other "faithful" sponsors, when was the last time you saw an ad with Tiger in it?

My GreenJacket13,

First off, the sponsor showing character as you put it is a joke. They dropped Tiger for same reason others did, media pressure. If any sponsor really thought Tiger's personal issues would affect their bottom then they really have no clue. People that purchased something just because Tiger promoted it, are not fans of Tiger's personal life, they are golf fans and they love what the man does on the course, not off. Plus its not cowardly, to release a statement and now allow questions. The fact is he could of easily just released a written statement, but then people would have killed him for not stepping up and doing it live. Come on man. There really is no pleasing everyone. So just because you don't like Tiger, don't let that cloud you reasoning. Golf is where it is today because of Tiger, period. I'm not saying the greats that came before him didn't help. I'm simply saying golf with Tiger is extremely popular and lucrative for all involved and golf without Tiger, as we've seen in Tiger's absences, doesn't even compare in the tv ratings. So while some may say him doing this is stealing the show and partially I agree to that, I bet the PGA Tour and all it's sponsors are thankful as hell.

The others did not drop him, they are just weathering the storm until he can make them money again, apparently he's paid millions of dollars to endorse a product that he has no effect on. Saying all golf fans will still buy his products because what he does on the course, not off, is a bold statement. If people didn't buy his products because of his image then why wouldn't all of his endorsements still be milking his perfect, family first image. He gave people the impression that he was one person and it turns out he is not. You are right, there is no pleasing everyone and golf is where it is today because Tiger is the highest marketed athlete ever, media and the golf world had a lot to do with that. I am in no way saying Tiger isn't huge for golf but the PGA is wondering what to do because their "savior" is down, life will have to go on when he's gone and maybe they shouldn't have put all of their eggs in one basket. I don't see how that is clouded reasoning. The PGA helped create Tiger and Tiger was well aware of what was at stake and now they both have to weather the storm because of his actions. I don't watch golf just because Tiger is playing and I had a problem with how he carried himself on the course well before he got busted. What he does with a club is amazing but how he conducts himself on and off the course is not something I want my children to emulate or admire. I'm sure you think I hate Tiger, I don't, I just don't like the fact that so many people just sweep this under the rug because of his ability. But, yes everyone is going to question how he addresses the public. Do you think he's handled all of this in the best way? Of course people are going to be skeptical and have their own opinion on how they think this should have been dealt with. I think he's waited too long and let this story gain so much momentum that it will be much tougher for him than it had to be.

I don't think the PGA put all their eggs in one basket. I think someone, Tiger, was going around and stealing all the eggs. :) He has been by far the best player over the last X amount of years. He's changed the way a lot of people look at golf in terms of athletics. He's appealed to audiences that didn't care about golf before. He's been clutch and he's provided hours and hours of highlight reels. The PGA tour didn't have a choice in this, they were just along for the ride. That is why the PGA Tour should be ecstatic to have him back and until someone else can come along and do those exact things. They will continue to have a tough time when Tiger is not playing.

As for him handling it correctly or not, according to my opinion, I really don't think you or I or anyone you or I know could answer that question honestly. I don't think enough people give real thought to what it must be like to be going through a horrible family, personal problem and have it plastered on every TV, radio station, internet site, so on and so on. I couldn't even imagine that. Not even being able to have just a tiny bit of privacy to salvage your marriage. You say he let the story go on for too long. What was was he supposed to do. Go on TV as more and more women were coming out of the wood work making claims and tell the audience something they didn't already know. So personally, I think he did a good thing by staying away from the media and handling his personal issues. I think in the situation, you'd like to be able to do the same thing yourself

The fact is we all have our problems and no, we don't have to worry about the entire world knowing or caring about it. He knew what was at stake, why do you feel so bad for him? He's such a victim, nobody can possibly understand what poor Tiger Woods is going through, he did all of these things with 2 children and his career and reputation on the line and now I'm supposed to feel sorry for him, sorry I can't do that. I've made huge mistakes in my personal life and I had to deal with them just like anyone else. Women are still coming out with stuff and that will probably continue, the last one saying he got her pregnant. He can't stop that whether it's true or not. Do you think his personal issues are handled? Are you kidding? A couple of months go by and the Woods' family is in good shape. Please, I've been through a tough situation and it took a hell of a lot longer than a couple of months to work through it. Pay off? Maybe, who knows? Let your wife find out you've cheated on her multiple times with many different women and see what she does. We have absolutely no idea what is going on in their home and what they have worked out. Now everything is fine on the homefront and it's back to business as usual? He left the entire golf world hanging where the only question being asked is when is Tiger ready to return. Some players say he was trying to stick it to Accenture and Ernie Els said he was selfish and that he could have made a statement on Monday and not taken away from the other players and tournament. So is Els the asshole now because he says what is on his mind? Maybe he is supposed to bow down to the King and let him control all of golf because he can, regardless of being absent and unattainable for the last 3 months. I know how important Tiger is to the game but he has basically taken the sport hostage and when it's convenient for him, he will make another statement. What do I know? Hopefully people will still follow golf when the great Tiger Woods has hung up his cleats and maybe a new ambassador with actual morals and sportsmanship will take over for all of us to worship and idolize, Obviously, many people don't care what he does off the course, I just find it funny how devoted people are to a person that probably doesn't deserve such praise. So much for values. He can do whatever he wants because he can hit an 8 iron 180yds and wins a lot.

My god you sound like a chick......Yes he made some mistakes with his personal life and he is now dealing with them. And its not over....He is giving his speach and going back to get help for his sex addiction.....I wouldn't call that being done and back to normal at the Woods household.... but he is dealing with it and a start.
He has worked harder than any athlete I have seen in my lifetime to get where he is today in this great game. Probably what lead him to go a little wild recently. Imagine, from a young age, practicing, practicing, practicing and living a strict lifestyle with a father on top of you constantly......Then when you finally get to the point where you feel you have conquered this game (is that possible?) and you are on your own with TONS of cash he finally went a little wild and was.....well.... a little human. Like DerbyDon said, you can't say weather or not he handled this correctly, you can't imagine what he goes through daily; but to me; it looks like he is dealing with it and slowly putting the pieces of his life back together; and he has a big reponsibility to do this for his family, his fans and himself. So enough already, I for one cannot wait for him to return and play some golf and hopefully he can make things right for everyone in his OWN way.

Enough already and i sound like a chick? what is it with people from Connecticut giving a damn about what i think about the guy who is on their walls at home in a shrine with lit candles. i think you're misunderstanding what i've been saying. the "being done and back to normal in the Wood's household" statement i made had a question mark and was meant to be sarcastic. i can say whether or not "i think" he handled this the right way, the last time i checked we are all entitled to our own opinion, which is all i thought i was doing. but apparently everything you see in print must mean it has to be true. i want to see him back too and really liked the part in his speech today about respecting the game more when he returns and his apology seemed sincere. as for one-upping Accenture, he asked permission to have this press conference and referred to them as his "friends at Accenture", apparently he was doing this because he was headed back to therapy and that was the reason for his timing. i don't know if he ever stated if it was the sex rehab clinic or possibly marital counseling or what. again, i'm well aware of his ability and practice regimen and his importance to golf, i just find it amusing people try and find reasons and excuses for what he did, when even Tiger says there is no one to blame but himself and he was selfish and that's it. so, if that makes me sound like a chick then let me go put on my dress and maybe we can go dancing sometime, i'm assuming you won't be busy watching golf because we still have no idea when Tiger might come back (SARCASM). he-he.

Enough already and i sound like a chick? what is it with people from Connecticut giving a damn about what i think about the guy who is on their walls at home in a shrine with lit candles. i think you're misunderstanding what i've been saying. the "being done and back to normal in the Wood's household" statement i made had a question mark and was meant to be sarcastic. i can say whether or not "i think" he handled this the right way, the last time i checked we are all entitled to our own opinion, which is all i thought i was doing. but apparently everything you see in print must mean it has to be true. i want to see him back too and really liked the part in his speech today about respecting the game more when he returns and his apology seemed sincere. as for one-upping Accenture, he asked permission to have this press conference and referred to them as his "friends at Accenture", apparently he was doing this because he was headed back to therapy and that was the reason for his timing. i don't know if he ever stated if it was the sex rehab clinic or possibly marital counseling or what. again, i'm well aware of his ability and practice regimen and his importance to golf, i just find it amusing people try and find reasons and excuses for what he did, when even Tiger says there is no one to blame but himself and he was selfish and that's it. so, if that makes me sound like a chick then let me go put on my dress and maybe we can go dancing sometime, i'm assuming you won't be busy watching golf because we still have no idea when Tiger might come back (SARCASM). he-he.

Funny Jacket........I was just trying to say that boys will be boys and he finally gave in to I could only imagine all the temptations that are thrown at him. Not trying to say what he did is right just that I could see how he could give into it because he is human. Anyway, he did sound sincere today and hopefully this is a start to him making everything right.....with his personal and professional life.....hold on a candle went out!!!! :) ....... Be well and hurry back Tiger.....catch ya on the dance floor jacket! Go UCONN!!!!

i wonder how annoyed some of the players are by being asked about Tiger constantly even after they've had a good round and the attention should be on them. i know it's the biggest story out there but it's like when you're having a great day and the hottest girl in school comes up to talk to you and then she asks you what you know about the quarterback of the football team. who gives a crap? i just got an A on my math test.
