It's the story of a regular guy, not very talented, who has set a goal for himself: becoming a scratch golfer... and participate in the Masters (now he's dreaming on this one!)

When I'm 88...
Posted by Sylla 10/20/2009 5:29:42 PM

Today I played with the most chatty and adorable partner. He's apparently a regular at the Challenger but I had never been matched with him. I think I want to be like him when I grow up :)

Women on the golf course (a woman's perspective)

Men on the golf course (a woman's perspective)
Posted by Sylla 8/28/2009 4:35:15 PM

I sometimes go play golf alone. As one fellow golfer once asked me, "your boyfriend doesn't play golf"?. Yes he does, but sometimes I go out and play on my own when he's busy or doesn't want to come... Welcome to the 21st century western world, where women can do things on their own :)

Thanks for the swing analysis, but no thanks...
Posted by Sylla 5/5/2009 6:30:17 PM

Ok, I have to vent... I went practicing today. A guy arrives, and starts practicing in front of me. Pretty good player, from what I saw. But I didn't really pay attention to him, I was busy with my practice session. After 30 minutes, he starts taking to me, telling me that I'm hitting the ball great. Thanks, but actually it's my worst practice session in 6 months :) What is a man to do in this situation? Try to fix the problem of course :)

Philippe de Kerillis is one of the four finalists in the U.S. Open Challenge contest organized by Golf Digest. If he wins, he will play at Bethpage Black with 3 celebrities!! Philippe is Louis' (Louisdk) brother, a fellow Stracka member. Now I don't know Philippe personally, but I had the chance to play with Louis when I was in Florida and I can guarantee you that Louis is one of the friendliest, most genuine and wonderful persons I've ever met.

A new approach to golf instruction
Posted by Sylla 3/16/2009 6:24:56 PM

A few weeks ago, I started my quest for a new coach. I wanted someone who would respect what I had been trying to develop and wouldn't rebuild my swing just for the sake of it, but also who would take me to the next level. That's when I met Olivier Edmond, a great player and coach (voted best French player in 1990) who introduced me to the Key-Type method.

We almost didn't make it... aka geographically challenged Canadians
Posted by Sylla 3/7/2009 10:15:09 AM

We welcomed the start of our Florida golf vacation with excitment. We had packed all our stuff, made sure we didn't forget anything, printed a million Google maps, left the cat with my mother in law. We were more than ready and eager to go :) My husband had taken care of printing the map to go to the airport, the drive was smooth, we were even early when I had a funny feeling... Were we at the right airport?
