Ohhhhh... I just discovered that Stina Sternberg read my blog and commented on it. How cool :)

I had sent her an email asking for her opinion on this matter and pointing her to my previous blog post. Thinking about it, I agree with her that a lot of women are fiercely competitive. Most of the time, when I play with another woman, we quickly end up competing with each other, watching each others' game, trying to impress the other player and, of course, wanting to win :P I'm definitely like that. Let me play with another woman and all of a sudden I'm Tiger Woods on a Sunday.

It is true that we are abiding by the rules a lot more. I'm playing all the time with guys who move their ball, improve their lie, or just start another ball where the previous one was lost, carefully selecting a good lie (I agree that this speeds up the game, but it lowers their score for sure).

Also true, the lack of competitive opportunities. The only tournament I could enter this year had only 2-4 female competitors (for 50-60 males) and all of them were high-handicappers (except for one). If we never play with female players better than us, it's harder to improve.

Food for thought :)
