If one starts with the premise (just go with it, folks) that most golfers' main problem is an over-the-top downswing, which pro golfers' swing should be emulated as the "best fix"? In other words, whose downswing provides the most vivid visual cue to drop arms below the swing plane?

In this context, during my round this morning I envisioned Jim Furyk on every swing today and made sweet contact. Ostensibly ugly, his swing really does emphasize the dropping arms. It's an overexaggeration that serves as a teaching tool.

Who else ya got?

Your confusion confuses me. And please don't reference Cyrus (*shivers*).

No, I'm not talking about "the best swing to watch that is flawed." I'm talking about the best swing to watch IN ORDER TO FIX A FLAW. Furyk's swing is ugly, but it's instructive in that he provides an almost cartoonish caricature of how to drop the arms and avoid an over-the-top move. It's memorable and sticks in my mind. That's what I'm getting at. Which pro gives you the best imagery?

I always enjoyed Greg Norman's set up and shoulder turn.. Tiger's follow through... Jack's head turn prior to take away... Nick Faldo's "arm swing" on wedge shots.. Payne Stewart's "sweep" of the ball off the tee or fairway.. Ernie Els's rhythm...

Yeah Furyks swing is ugly but if you look at the numbers on trackman he is the most consistant Pro on the PGA Tour when it comes to ball striking. He delivers the club within a fraction of a degree of perfect every single time.

Back on the subject. Els has the perfect tempo and swing for me when it comes to looking for corrections in my swing.

It's not the 'best swing' but as far as which pro you should watch to fix OOT, a lot of people watch Kenny Perry. I believe he has the most inside/out path on tour. Watch his swing and you can see why. The way he flattens out his swing from the transition at the top and delays his shoulder turn are good moves to emulate if you are trying to fix OOT.

Rickie Fowler because Larry said so because some other group of people said so.

Hahaha... When I first saw that post I had no clue what you were talking about, then conveniently the PGA Tour posted the video on its Facebook page. That mustache is hardcore. That and the khaki pants made Rickie, err, Dick unrecognizable.

I go along with Mark on this one. Perry has a very deliberate and mimicable swing. Bernhard Langer is another one I watch so long as he is not explaining it that is, he can get real tongue tied.

He is a great golfer but that slight double pump at the top of his swing irritants the crap out of me almost as much as Keegans pre shot routine.

That's another way of describing what I'm getting at. It's the oddball, annoying swing that is memorable. And that memorability, per se, is the teaching aid. Instead of having a jumble of swing thoughts, a bunch of self-talk, one can instead easily picture Perry's swing (or Furyk's, or whomever). If imitating those swings facilitates improvement in yours, then we've got something quite constructive. That's what I'm going with, until it stops working.
