Over the past 10 years which golfer would you have wanted consistently in the world's top 5, for no other reason than personality? For example, I wish Kenny Perry could've been in the uppermost tier, simply because his persona--to me--would have been a joy to have center stage. Who ya got?

John Daly.

Don't need to think hard on this one... John Daly and then everyone else. America LOVES a train wreck. The guy is cat on his 9th life. It would've been great to have him Top 5. I'd be watching the 5th season of Being John Daly on the GC right now. :)

Interesting question.

Payne Stewart - The guy is an inspiration. I miss him.
Fred Couples - Think of the fun we could have had if the back hadn't literally held him back!

Payne Stewart was before I started playing and I never got to enjoy watching him. Mike Hicks, who was Paynes caddie, just started working at a course about 15 minutes from the course that I work at and the Head Pro there is a friend of mine. He invited me to come meet Mike and then see his new putting studio and all of the Payne Stewart memorabilia that he brought with him.

This is fascinating. I am curious why he's no longer caddying on tour. I would've thought a caddy for a great golfer would stick around with the pros and not just go work on a random course somewhere. What's the story?

He is now working as a putting instructor and SeeMore Putter fitter at Mill Creek Golf Course in Mebane. Said that he is getting too old and broke down to carry a bag anymore.
