Keeping this trivia theme going: What do Craig Wood and Byron Nelson have in common that ONLY they have in common?

Craig Wood also called the Blonde Bomber lost in a playoff in the very first Masters in 1935 to Gene Sarazen who needed a double eagle down the stretch to send it to extra holes. Wood was perhaps the first player people started to title, "Best Player to Have Never Won a Major" a title he eventually and thankfully gave up when he finally broke through to win the Masters.
I own Craig Wood's wood he used in that 1935 Masters. It was the first piece in my collection. |

Well in 1939 Nelson and Wood tied for the Open Championship. They then played another round and tied. The Open title was finally decided after a second full 18 hole playoff round. I'm guessing this is the most number of holes and rounds ever played to determine the Open Champion. Thus the record they'd share would be the most holes ever played in an Open Championship.

Please don't tell me that Byron Nelson, like Craig Wood, also had a cute great-great-great-grandaughter who played in a threesome with Ethan (cofish).

... in a threesome with Ethan (cofish)... Another entry for the "Stracka After Dark" sister website And no, Mark, that wasn't the answer I'm looking for. |
