I am so bummed. I worked really hard to get my golf hdcp down below 10 this year. I was even inching my way to becoming eligible for trying out for the All Army Golf Team which requires a hdcp of 4 or lower. However, my hdcp seemed unusually low so I called the Minnesota Golf Association (MNGA) to enquire about it. They informed me that I have been listed as a woman all year. I am stunned by all the implications of that, but I won't go there. Anyway, they adjusted my hdcp to reflect that I am actually a male and my hdcp promptly shot-up to 10. I guess there is always next year.

If you can get your handicap to 10, you can get it to 4. It won't be easy ... in fact, I'd say it's harder to go from 20s to 10 than 10 to sub-4, BUT once you reach the 10 and single-digit range, the rest is really a question of how much time do you have ... Ok, the part about going from 20-10 being harder and 10-to lower being easier is absurd! You must not be a single didigt hdcp or you would understand where im coming from. most of the time the biggest difference between single digit hdcpers is the putting. And Im here to tell ya...it aint easy making putts consistently i dont care how much u practice putting. To go from 20-10 is usually keeping the ball in play and that can be fixed w/ more range time. Just sayin.... |

Keep it up man if you have the drive to get "there" once you can do it again. This game is mostly mental.

Keep it up man if you have the drive to get "there" once you can do it again. This game is mostly mental. So. Friday I went to the range and had a very poor session. I just couldn't get any juice on the ball. I could barely hit a 6-iron 140 yards. Just a bad day. So up comes a pretty big young guy, in his early 20's. He was about 6' 3", looked about 220. He was obviously a good player. he was hitting smooth 8 or 9-irons that flew incredibly high and further than I was hitting my 6-iron. That's demoralizing. It's sometimes difficult to remember that you are right on the money when you state that golf is mostly mental. I have played and beat guys that can outdrive me with a 5-metal but didn't have a short game. So Donovan, hang in there when you get down, things will turn around. |

Sorry to hear the mixed up !
From a 10 to a 4 index is a long journey unless you are gifted and have the time for improvement. |

In fact, it might be harder to go from 6 to 4 than it is from 20 to 10 ... but whatever. We're all in agreement that the better you get, the harder it is to improve. |

That is hilarious! Sorry for the confusion, but that is funny stuff! Your partners can't get upset if you don't drive your ball past the womens tee's now!

That's one thing that drives me nuts about golf though. It IS harder the lower you go, especially being a Stracka member, which pretty much means you have a job, and you can't just practice more at the drop of a hat. I'll tell you from experience that getting from a 2 down to scratch, without upping your practice time is harder than building a rocket capable of landing pigs on the moon... |
