This is a pretty nice article - you hear so much about Make a Wish for kids - this ladies dream has always been to meet Fred Couples and at 91 she finally got the chance:

Wow! A professional golfer took a minute to shake hands with a fan. And maybe even signed an autograph. It isn't like he made a special trip across the country at his own expense to meet her in some elderly living facility or paid for some complicated medical procedure she couldn't afford, or even played nine holes with her or took her to dinner. He walked over and met her on the golf course he was playing at for a boatload of money. Isn't Freddy wonderful? Big f-in deal!
If this is what we now consider an act worthy of such high praise, the bar has been lowered all the way into the dirt. |

I'm a huge supporter in Make A Wish since those are real young kids knowing they're gonna be gone in a real short time, but I mean come on. It's a 91 year old woman who got to say "Hey" to Fred, shoot the breeze, and that's it. Happy for her but this is hardly news. I hope if I get to be a journalist I can find about something actually news worthy to write about. |
