I thought this would be fun to do. We had a training session at work and one of the questions was, "Who is the most famous person from your home town?" I thought it would be a fun topic to tackle and we would learn a little. Have some fun with it.

There are a few that I can think of. John Isner, Billy "Crash" Craddick and the Bostic Brothers. Isner is prolly the most famous of the group.

I'd say the name most people would be familiar with is Amy Van Dyken. Don, Joe, and Otter would be interested in knowing Phillies' World Series hero Brad Lidge grew up 5 minutes from where I did. Thanks to Mike Shanahan's time in suburban Denver Kyle Shanahan would be another one.

The most famous person would probably be Harlow Curtice, former CEO and President of General Motors and 1955 Time magazine Man of the Year. Some would make a case for Austin Blair, anti-slavery governor of Michigan during Lincoln's time.

My answers for the exercise stretched across a few generations.
Joe DiMaggio lived the last 50 years of his life in Hollywood. We have a Children's Hospital in his name. Victoria Justice is from Hollywood. (COG take notice). And John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted. (As a sad side note: Americas Most Wanted started because of Hollywood. Unfortunately, Walsh's son was abducted half a mile down the street from me in '96 and the reason he started the show was to raise awareness after his son Adam was killed). At least some great things came from a horrible result. |

Most famous? I guess that depends on who you ask.
Tina Fey lived a few houses down the street from me. We played outside together as kids. She was 2 years behind me in HS. I believe her parents still live in the same house. Jim Croce, Todd Rundgren and King Kong Bundy all were from my hometown as well. Jamie Kennedy (Scream 1,2 and 3) Mike Scoscia (MLB Cather and current Angels coach). His father taught me algebra. Jeff Labar-guitarist for Cinderella John Capelletti-RB for Rams and Chargers in 70s and 80s. Heather Donahue-Blair Witch Project Cheri Oteri-SNL Ed Stefan's-former GM of 76ers Dick Boticelli-drummer from Bill Haley and the Comets Todd Rucci-former center NE Patriots How many do you want? |
