So it's not the clubs (look at Tiger go with them sticks), it's not the girl (she was with him through his hottest streak), it's not the swoosh or the putter.

IN MY OPINION...the change was STUPID. 'Cause it's the change in itself that's done it. You reach #1, get a hot girlfriend, can't miss inside 10 feet...so you change? Rory, you're just stupid. In my opinion (again), he should have rode out the hot streak. Don't change your clubs, your clothes, your hair, your underwear-ANYTHING. I figure if he had have just rode it out, he would have already won this year and would be the favorite for the Masters.

But nope, change (despite himself). Way to go....dummy.

Is it the clubs or the swing at this point. Who really knows except Rory but until he wins again with his new lineup there will be doubters. Personally I wouldn't have changed but then again, there was no company throwing $250 million at me either. Lets see how well the decision is by the end of the season.

Its definately the clubs. they stink. You couldn't pay me to play Nike equipment. Nobody can play with Nike equipment.

Dandy, what do you mean by "the change"? Some are assuming you mean the equipment, but he also changed his swing.

Don, I am NOT a Nike fan either, but, the top players in the world are using Nike every week. We can't say we don't know why. It's about money.

As far as Rory being a dummy? I have never been a Rory fan, but I can say I am pulling for him to come out of this tough start. Rory will be just fine. He will build the confidence and he will win again without question. Everyone was kicking Tiger to the curb and he is playing some damn good golf and winning again. Rory will be back too.

My post was tongue in cheek. I play Nike irons myself and hit them as good as anyone. My best scores of my life have come this past year with Nike clubs.

Very simple Mark. The "change" is doing something different from whatever he was doing when he was winning at an alarming rate. Nike is not an equipment company, they are an all consuming way of life for an athlete. The media storm, the unfarmiliar (albeit good) clubs.

He didn't change his swing, his swing just changed and he's said openly he's working on getting it back to where it was.

Innocence lost....

It's been proven you can win with Nike (see Tiger Woods for example 1a, but also Charl Schwartzel, as well as Lucas Glover, Stewart Cink, and Trevor Immelman when they were with Nike), but you change your comfort zone and your psyche gets messed up. It's like having a Temper-pedic mattress for your bed, and getting a mattress from IKEA to replace it. It's quality and it'll work, but you might have to wait a while before you get totally comfortable with this new bed.

This is much to do about nothing. We compare Rory to the Tiger of old and that is just unfair. Nobody in the modern age of golf was that good, not even Jack Nicklaus won as often, including majors. I still stand by my prediction that Rory will end his career with 6-7 majors which is a Hall of Fame career. I just don't think you can be a happy go lucky guy and break records.

You need a crazy drive, a ruthlessness. We have seen it with Tiger, but many people don't realize that as nice as Jack appeared he just wanted to break you.

A couple of years ago I had dinner with Jack Nicklaus and he made some comments that I have never heard him say in public. One was this...

Someone at our table asked him if he ever asked a caddy for their opinion. His answer: "No. My caddy had one job. If i was behind his job was to remind me that I am the best player in the world and that I can catch the leader. And when i was winning the tournament to remind me to step on their necks."

You normally don't get that kind of honesty in an interview on tv.

Gotcha. I have never hit Nike. Probably a good club. One thing is very certain. Nike has enough money to hire the best in the business to develop the best equipment in golf. I really don't think it is Nike equipment for Rory that is the problem. I think it is all in his head and a mental issue at the moment. We will all see how it comes out in the near future. He played some pretty good golf today. Just get rid of the Nike Putter.

I disagree somewhat. He may not be Jack or Tiger, but hes damn good and he was on a tear that includes a major and the title of #1. My only point being, why would you make any changes to a formula that is litreally beating the pants off everyone in the world??
This post wasn't about equipment (Nike equipment has wont tournaments and majors alike), it's about why Rory would change anything when he's red hot. We're seeing the repercussions of his decision in his play.
