That does it. I'm officially boycotting TaylorMade products. The R1 is too much. That club is pretty much, flat out insulting. AND...if you check out their website, the new RBZ gives you 10 more yards!! That's 10 MORE kids, on top of the 17 they gave you last year. So in theory, you should be getting 27 more yards than you were at the end of 2011.

Screw you TaylorMade, you're dumb. And it's my opinion that if you're going to buy a new RBZ hoping for the 27 more yards, then you're one of the dummies fueling this fire. TM just sunk to Nike gimmik status in my book...

care to elaborate on why it's dumb? http://www.golfdigest.com/golf..

first of all, I'm happy to see it's priced reasonably, and it makes it easier them to produce a product for the masses, seems like they actually passed their production savings on to us endusers. I don't know about you, but I live in America and if I don't like a product I can simply choose not to buy it rather than wasting my time bitching about it on the internet

First off, sure I'll elaborate. Adjustable drivers have been around for years now. Handicaps havee not gone down.17,853,653 ways to adjust your driver is now officially a dumb gimmik. Honestly, whats the number? 168 or something. You go ahead and buy it, cause you need to adjust your driver 168 ways apparently?? Dumb.

Secondly, $400 is not cheap. Where are these savings you speak of that are being passed to the public? AND, if you want all shaft options, their website directs you to the TP version, which retails for $500. Yeah buddy, real cheap.

And I don't live in 'Merica, but I do understand that this an open golf form. One which you "wasted your time" commenting on. Oh, the irony.

The trick is that you must be using TM driver all this time, THEN the gain yardage would stack up.
Aren't your drive pass 300 yards already ?
How about the spring face iron they pushed out ? The Rocketblades ?
I thought the goal for iron game is consistency and accuracy not distance ?

I'm playing a taylor made r510 tp from 2002/2003 it's a 10 year old driver. I'm not a taylor made fanboy by any stretch, that driver just works great for me and I hit bombs. I demoed a rocketballz last summer because they randomly were having a demo day. I hit the rbz tour tp great then I asked if I could hit my driver to compare on the flightscope simulater. numbers were near identical. My r510tp retailed for $599 10 years ago! I only started golfing in earnest in 2007 but back then drivers were priced at $399, then tp versions were going for $499. The economy tanked, the golf industry got killed, prices came down dramatically and really haven't gone up in price despite the fact that inflation says they should have.

As for adjustability, the idea isn't necessarily that you are going to constantly be adjusting it but whats wrong with being able to adjust as you improve? for example, 5 years ago I was a 18 hcap starting out. When i hit the ball wall 300 yard drives in play but most of the time I was hitting huge slices. You adjust the club to help counter the bad swing. Fastforward, I'm now a 5 hcap, I've done a few lessons, I have a much better swing that is far more grooved and consistent and I now tend to fight a hook. Wouldn't it be nice to simply make a few adjusments to my $400 driver than go out and buy another $400 to replace it?

Taylormade is not the only company that saturates the market with advertising. It is how they stay afloat in a competitive environment. I often wonder now how much further the R and D sections of the manufacturers can go. I have a Ping G20 driver and already Ping is coming out with new clubs in the G series. Even though Taylormade is very profitable, sooner or later sales will slump and marketing may not help to rebuild its lofty position.

Your comment sucks

You got pwoned, i agree. taylormade blows. they might as well start putting build in cigar lighters and ashtrays on the hozel to make their drivers like swiss army knifes.

10+ more yards..pshh.. give me a break.

Well, you've got a point there, I do remember the $650 drivers, but I've never paid that for a club. $4-500 is still a lot of dough to shell out.
As far as adjusting the club from the time you're an 18 to the time you're a 5, you'd need to change the shaft, $200 on average, and not many drivers ever see their 10 year anniversary anyway. My whole point is that TaylorMade is out of control to the point of being annoying. Nobody, from hack to Pro, needs 168 adjustments.

Geez, with all this new technology, it's a wonder how anyone ever shot under par 40 years ago.

*sarcasm*

I finally saw a pic of the driver. Racing stripes? Seriously? The technology is one thing, but c'mon, at least make it LOOK like a golf club.

Remember back when golf clubs were beautiful?

Of course it is 10 yds longer. If you look at the specs on the 3w you will notice that the loft is 11 degrees. It's a small driver!!!!! Just what TM is known for, jacking up lofts and claiming more distance.

You must be talking about the NEW 3 wood. Because I'm holding my RBZ 3 wood in my hand right now and the loft is 15 degrees. Not 11. It is 10 yards longer than my old Callaway 3 wood though. Must be superior quality manufacturing.

Yeah. Talking about the RBZ Stage 2 3w. It is adjustable from 11 degrees to (I think) 16
