Bernard Langer carded a 10 on a Par 5 yesterday. It took him 5 strokes to get out of the lava stones because there was no reasonable spot to take relief. What was the highest score you've carded in your golf career?? And what was the reason for the extra strokes??? This should be funny...

My worst (after I started keeping score, because I am sure there is worse otherwise...) is a 12 on #10, par 5, at the old Poppy Hills on the Monterey Peninsula, in a tournament with my associate (roaming) club.

Hit a good drive in the middle, then proceeded to send 2 balls straight into the forrest on the right side, OB. And then, a third one, but somehow the golfing gods had pity on me and spit that one back out in the right rough, playable. Then I airmailed the green a bit to the right as well, and didn't have a shot with any club except the putter from some underbrush, away from the hole. One more to chip onto the green, above the hole, and of course, to cap it all, a 3-jack! :)

I'm not proud of it, but I remember everything about it. The next worse hole was for 11, but can't remember where, when or how...

11 on a very long par 4. 460 yds and played dead into the wind.

Tee ball into the pond that I usually carry with ease. Third into lip of fairway bunker. 5th got out of the bunker. 6th into steep green side bunker below elevated green. Had to play 7th out backwards and skulled it 100 yds back down the fairway. 8th on the green and 3 putt. That was the 17th. birdied last 2 holes for a 7 over on the back.

Now wait a minute Shawn. You had an 11 on 17 and birdied the last TWO holes? I didn't know the 19th hole can be counted in your score. We'll have our eye on you at next year's championship! LOL!

Finished 9-7-9 once to card a 96. I had an eagle on that back 9 too. Golf is such a stupid game...

I would have thought playing fewer holes would be the advantage? Yes, it was #16 on North Course at Stonewall. Probably toughest hole I can play locally. This photo doesn't show the bunkers down the side opposite the second pond.

This was about 7 years ago when I started playing golf, this happened in Costa del Sol Golf Course.

It's short but really tight course, I go to the 2nd Hole, Par 5 511 Yards, Off the Tee I hit three straight balls to the right side on the street (My second shot hit a car and I had to hide myself for about 10 minutes) So my seventh shot finally makes it to the left rough, short but playable, from there I actually hit a decent 3 Wood to the middle of the fairway about a 100 yds to the center green, my 9th shot got in the left short bunker, 10th didn't get out of the bunker and the 11th went pass the green, 12th was a good chip on the green which left under 10 Ft to the hole and guess what??? Yeah I missed the Putt.

Boys That's 14th, the most miserable Hole in my entire golf career, I will never forget that.

I remember playing Costa del Sol back in the 1970's when I was in high school. One day I lost 12 golf balls there. It was narrow and cow pastures on the other side of the fences.

In my first high school district match, I took a 14 on the first hole. I can still feel the embarrassment now, 24 years later.

I always make fun of the fact that when I started playing, I bought a big bag of balls in walmart that had 44 balls and it only lasted two rounds, I mean I had about 4 to 10 left by the end of the second round.

My most embarrassing wasn't the 11 I took. That was among friends. Most embarrassing was my first County Amateur in 2009. It was my first tournament round. 315 par 4 starting hole with OB right and trouble left so I hit 4 iron. So nervous hit two of them OB right with most of the field watching. So I pulled driver in anger and drove it to 8 feet. Was still so rattled I 3 banged it for an 8.

It's not my highest stroke count but it is my most embarrassing showing. The NGT event at Ravens Claw. Terrible front nine. I made the mistake of shaking Lee's hand before the round. Thanks man.
