After laying off all it's Pro's in the summer, Dicks is getting out of the golf business. Shrinking revenues and an overall shrinking industry were their reasons. I believe what really happened is they put most of their eggs in the TaylorMade basket, and TMag is reporting a 27% decline in revenue YTD to their share holders. So maybe the strategy of releasing 47 new drivers every six months is finally catching up to them - and the retailers?

Yet they are still frequently on TGC saying they are the worlds largest golf retailer. I just saw that commercial yesterday and was perplexed. |

I don't get how they can call themselves Dick's if they're not going to have shafts or balls?

I don't get how they can call themselves Dick's if they're not going to have shafts or balls? In all fairness, reshafting technology hasn't come as far as Dicks had hoped it would, and thus, you won't be able to just walk into Dicks and walk out with a stiffer shaft. I believe Dicks will still be supporting balls, however they'll be placing a two ball limit for new customers. |

Really is a shame that Dicks will be pulling out early on the golf business. |
