Maybe I've reached that age (32) where today's music is for the most part just white noise that really has no meaning or innovation. Of course, maybe it's because the stuff I grew up on is beginning to appear on "Classic Rock" radio. So my question is this....what are some bands/artists out there today that are actually worth listening to? Maybe if this forum gets some traffic, we'll all discover some cool new music. I'd say the two bands I am into these days are The Black Keys and The Hold Steady. How about the rest of you?

PS....Listened to "Main Street" by Bob Seger while I wrote this....

A lot of the newer stuff I listen to is punk and ska, which is probably not of interest to the average Stracka member. Modest Mouse is a newer band that I like that may appeal to a wider rock/alt rock audience.

Another couple bands that are a little different but worth mentioning are Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphy's. A little Irish influence never hurt anyone....

I've got "Shipping Up to Boston" as my ringtone....

Someone had a great comment on Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody at Wembley Stadium. "It's sad talent doesn't sell music anymore." Couldn't agree more. I want to throw up when I listen to Bad Romance by Lady Gaga and shoot myself when I see Justin Bieber's face or name. I listen mainly to Queen, Fall Out Boy, and All American Rejects. FOB and AAR are alternative music which is my favorite genre out there. FOB broke up over a year ago and AAR is making their 4th album which I'm excited for. Anyways, today's music is just crap.

If I hear that Lady Ga-Ga goofball, or Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" one more time I might just find a new use for my 5 iron. Today's pop music is un-listenable.

I'm 42 and a product of 80's hair bands. Dokken, Cinderella, Winger, Kiss, Van Halen, Whitesnake, etc. I still listen to that genre online in Yahoo Music.

But for the most part, I've moved on to sports talk radio or other non-political talk radio.

Depends on what your in to. I grew up listening to hard rock and heavy metal, playing the club scene myself in the early 80's. Bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Ratt, Dokken, Poison, Skid Row, etc. I like some of the bands that have come out over the last few years or so. Bullet for my Valentine kicks ass. So does Stone Sour (Corey Taylor's other band - Spliknot singer). I also like many genres of music, so I may be different than most. I can't handle dance music or too much of the rap out there. Old School Snoop, Dre, Eminem is ok. Most of the rest is crap. I don't listen to the regular radio anymore. It's all burned CD's or XM for me.
Priest, Maiden, Van Halen, Dokken, and Skid Row. i'lll give you. Poison, Bullet for my Valentine, and Stone Sour need to die in a horrific car accident. Snoop and Dre are fine along with earlier stuff like Cube and Public Enemy. but regular radio is ridiculous
