Bunker Rules
Posted by TheMrD234 1/24/2010 11:34:43 PM

I believe it is OK to shuffle your feet and test the sand when you are over your ball in a bunker and preparing to swing. However, I was surprised to see a player get in a bunker and test the sand by shuffling his feet and he was no where...

Posted by TheMrD234 10/26/2009 11:51:40 PM

This past weekend I played in a charity golf tournament. It was a scramble format. I played with three young guys that could blast the ball a mile and two of them had good all around games. I had never played with any of them. ...

I have played in several charity tournaments this past year. The ones that I played in were scrambles. My group of Seniors seems to always be at the bottom of the Leaderboard. I know its for a good cause and ...

John Daly

What gives with John Daly and his golf attire. Several pictures and TV shots have shown him in bright colorful --dare I say PANTS. I am reminded of the Circus clowns. I really like John, but this borders on I WILL DO ANYTHING f...

Economy and Sponsors
Posted by TheMrD234 3/11/2009 11:49:27 AM

I hate to see the hits that golf is taking from the economy. Unfortunately, major sponsors have failed financially and golf like any component must be weighed on its contribution to the profit ledger. What were the executives thinking when they took government funds to save their companies (paid huge bonuses) and then spent lavishly at the golf tournaments for non golf related entertainment. The sponsors showed poor judgement and I can not blame elected officials for pointing out the misuse of government funds. However, golf took the hit . Company executives must think they are professional athletes that command multi-million dollar salaries. I can't afford to pay Manny Ramirez !! So when, ticket prices or the product prices are no longer affordable by the "average " person---executives take the money and run(or RUN to Uncle Sam) . One article I read attempted to justify the sponsors of a golf tournament by pointing out their charity contributions of over 50 million while glossing over the billions the sponsor received in bailout money. Charity should not sink a corporation. Maybe it's time to look at tournament Prize funds and ticket prices before it's to late. How much was that ticket to the Masters?

Wheaties

Anyone remember or collect the packages of Titleist golf balls that Wheaties put out several years ago. They had a faux signature of Tiger on them. I had two boxes put away. I've posted a couple of pictures to jog your memories.

I'm 63 and feel it's time to move to the senior tees. I'm hesitant because its an acknowledgement that I am older and can't hit or putt like I once did.
