I just returned from my Class of 64 high school reunion in West Point,Ms. We played golf at Old Waverly Saturday morning and my highlight was a birdie on the first hole. We played our own ball the first nine and then played a scramble on the back. My team lost by one stroke. Old Waverly hosted the US Women's Open in 1999. I used the occassion to have a golf vacation in Tunica, MS. On Monday I played River Bend in the morning and played Tunica National in the afternoon. It was cart path only that afternoon and the thunderstorms ran us off the course several times. I didn't keep score(put three balls in the water on the first three holes). I finished on a good note with a par on 18. Cottonwood was cart path only so I played River Bend again Tuesday morning. Played Tunica National with Benny Perrin and his wife. Benny was on the Alabama National Championship team of 78 and 79,which was coached by Bear Bryant. Benny later played professional football for the St. Louis Cardinal. You meet the coolest people playing golf.
