This past weekend I played in a charity golf tournament. It was a scramble format. I played with three young guys that could blast the ball a mile and two of them had good all around games. I had never played with any of them. We came in second by a shot. I WON the long drive contest!!!! I bring this up because in previous blogs I have made the point that Seniors should use the Senior Tees. We played from the white tees and I hit a good drive for me of 240 yds. It stayed in the fairway. Many players out drove me---all in my group, but none were in the fairway. As one of my playing partners said, I won one for the old guys!! I still think tournaments should go by handicap or make tee allowances!!

10/27/2009 2:26:16 AM I think more important is the fact that you played for charity. You raise money for a cause and spend a day enjoying golf and comaraderie. Trophies just collect dust and clutter rooms. I have been outdriven plenty by senior players and am not by any means short. I'd hate to think I will need to play from senior tees in two years. Congratulations on winning the long drive, relish in the |
