Golf-Science, Technology, Learning, and buying
Posted by Linxman 10/16/2009 9:35:29 PM

Playing blades or cavity backs. This is coming from a person who play recreationally for the last 20 years with both products. The last 5 I started getting serious (this site helps a ton) and the in the last 18 months got REALLY SERIOUS. If you are going to go custom, and can dish out $450 to $1000 ish and you have the time, put the time into testing, learning the science and use the manufacturers, courses or retail stores for what will benefit you. It's your money and if they want your money, make them work for it. I have been to several Golf Galaxy stores and found one in Gurnee, IL where the 2 out of the 3 floor staff actually know what they are talking about and doing.

TM Burners Vs Srixon Vs Warbird
Posted by Linxman 10/16/2009 8:56:45 PM

Well it is that time again that something works good and they take if off the market. The scuttlebut is that TM Burners are going away. Was able to get a few dozen for a great price and works well with the Cobra products but no longer developed into 2010. I decided to start trying the Srixon AD330x and found hit as well as the Burners and 7.00 cheaper a dozen. Good ball except for how easy they get cut. There are still a couple that warrant testing. The Slazenger Raw products are supposed to be a similar ball, but found they feel hard like a titliest. The Warbirds have been getting some press lately but I wanted to put the message out there in the actual playing community.

Cobra Bite! and leaves its mark!!
Posted by Linxman 12/6/2008 11:13:15 PM

Oct 2009 update. Well the shaft to my new LD F broke. Unfortunately Cobra wouldnt cover it after 6 months. However I found a great opportunity similar to how Penicillin was found. BY ACCIDENT!. I found a 2008 LD-M with a 50gram x stiff shaft. I swung and PASSED THE LD-F IN DISTANCE!!!! That and 10 mph faster swing speed. So I raced back to the club builder and matched a shaft as close as possible the other shaft. Another 100.00 later with new smaller hybrid grip and off to the range to compare the play. Swing speed was nearly the same and consistent 250y on the FLY!! and with control, THE BEST PART. This has certainly been a year of learning. I have to thank the fellow bloggers, the players who love golf and those kind enough to share their triumphs. I find it amazing with matching the technology and ball testing what can be accomplished. Well I will be back again soon.

REVERSE GRIPS OR OVERSIZED?
Posted by Linxman 12/2/2008 2:25:53 PM

" I am working on test out the differences in Grips and possible shafts. Starting the usual book ready to look at the theories and then add to my own at the local golf store to see what the results may be. The store still owes me custom fitting and changes so why not. The rumor is grips and alter the game as much as 5-10 strokes depending on the player. In my case I hope its 10!!!"

Walking or Riding to a better score?
Posted by Linxman 12/2/2008 11:08:22 AM

I find that walking does well until the last 3 holes. Something about the pace and the slow guestimation of distance to the pin works for me. A new Gps is in hand for the 2009 season which I hope will add to the reduction in score and get some exact distances with all the clubs.
