I find that walking does well until the last 3 holes. Something about the pace and the slow guestimation of distance to the pin works for me. A new Gps is in hand for the 2009 season which I hope will add to the reduction in score and get some exact distances with all the clubs.

12/4/2008 10:11:15 PM In our area which is more "hilly", most of the courses have quite a bit of elevation changes from hole to hole. So we deal with alot of adding more club to elevated greens, and less club for holes below the tee. There are about a dozen courses within a 30 mile area in my hometown. Courses average $36 to ride 18. I pay $13 to walk 9 a couple times a week after work during daylight savings time, and often play the weekend as well. Getting that GIR above 50% will bring the scores down! Putting is the big difference - no 3 putts will break 80 everytime.ow the tee. 12/3/2008 9:57:15 PM I've been playing for about 12 yrs. I typically walk 9 holes a couple of times during the week, and occassionally walk 18. I ride when the course is crowded. It's been my experience that my scores are lower on the rounds when I walk. Nothing drastic, but on average 3-5 strokes better. Maybe it's all in my head, but I tend to have better concentration and feel more relaxed when I walk the course. There is an issue of stamina for some people, but if you're that out of shape, maybe you should start walking. Not all courses are walkable, and some won't allow it certain days and certain hours of the day.Riding is okay, and there's nothing wrong with it. But here's something to think about; Spend less for the same number of holes AND shoot lower scores. Sounds like a birdie to me. GPS should help build your confidence in distances and pulling the right clubs, but you still have to hit the shot. Good luck in 2009! lower on the rounds when I walk.
