October is bordering the wet seasons here in the Northwest.

Last October was nice and dryer than usual but you'll never know when the moisture will come up from the South Pacific. It's a hit and miss situation. Some weeks are dryer than the next. This past year we played almost every week, there are drier courses depending on where you'll be staying.

Municipal courses check the premier golf dot com.
For daily fee check the OKI golf dot com, and there are just loads of nice golf courses within 45 minutes drive from the Seattle Metro area.

Most notables are Chambers Bay, The Home Course, many other courses dotted around the Puget Sound area.

October month could be a very playable month but again, depending on the weather.

The only thing which is reliable is; most of the courses aerify in the month of September, so, greens would be recovering from the punching and sanding. Not quite into the winter months so the green fees would still be the prime rate ( $30-$150 for most the courses ). Early bird rate is something you want to look into ( first hour of daylight at a discounted green fee ).

There are some ridiculously nice course up here, and some value courses to be had.
I agree with Dew, October you start to border on conditions but I have never canceled a round due to weather. You just pick a day, and play. Sometimes its a little wet and sometimes its sunny. You'd never play up here that time of year if you tried to forecast the sunny day. Take today for example, Mar and Oct are about the same as far as shoulder season go. We booked today's tee time 2 weeks ago and look what we got...

Some high end, but most mid-range.

There are also quite a few really nice municipal course, most of which in the immediate Seattle Metro area are run by Premier, which Dew also mentions.

Then if you get outside the immediate metro area, there are lots of courses and values to be found..just north, south or east. You can also head over to the Olympic Peninsula where there is Gold Mountain Golf Complex, two different courses and has hosted a whole variety of State and Regional Amateur finals. This is a great little spot, with All Day Play specials in early and late season.

You could come out here for a week and play a different style of course every day, each with a distinctly NW feel.

I wish I could play in Hawaii every October, but I think you will be surprised at some of the nice courses in the Seattle area. Good luck.
