This is always a favorite topic of mine to ask at the end of each calendar year. With 2017 nearly behind us, what was the best golf shot you hit this year?

Daniel, Jon, and Jessie were witnesses to mine. On the 9th hole at Tobacco Road during the NGT, I hooked a drive that I thought was going to be lost. Somehow, it took a hard bounce right and ended up in the fairway. That alone proved God was on my side that day.
Because of where I thought my ball would be, compared to where it actually turned up, I didn't have the right club with me for this next shot. I had 175 in, going uphill to that extremely intimidating green. That's probably a 5 iron for me, and I had 7 with me because I originally assumed I'd be having to lay up to a wedge distance. To make matters harder, the trees on the left were in my target line, and I'm staring at that deep, huge bunker on the right with a club I don't think can get me to the green. Pardon my French, but I pured the shit out of this 7 iron. It drew perfectly, and I couldn't tell where it ended up exactly, but it wasn't going to be in any kind of trouble. Somehow it finished 3 feet from the hole. Further proof the man upstairs was on my side. We won't talk about the putt I then missed, but in terms of shot quality, that's going to stand out for a long time in my mind. One of, if not the best shot I've ever hit. |

I'll mention my worst shot of 2017. I got the flu shot. And here I sit at home in my chair because it didn't work!

My Best shot of 2017 has to be my 2nd shot to the Green. My tee shot was a Hook into the tree's. 120 yards out. tree's in front and just a small Gap between the two twin tree's to reach the green. took an 8-iron to keep it low and it was just Luck, the ball hit the middle of the Green and the ball rolls off the fringe. one putt later, I'm walking off with a Par. Best shot of 2017.

This is easy for me as it was not so much the best shot, but the best hole with two friends. The 10th hole at Broad Run with Jay and Don where I hit a 7 iron just over the flag and drained the birdie putt. What made it even more fun was Don thought I was going to put it up on the side of the hill to the right of the green, but the ball drew back nicely. Rain, fog, and great company, what more could one ask for.

I remember like it was this morning. 18th hole at Carrillon golf links. It was playing on the GPS at 479 I hit a pretty decent drive on the left side into the first cut of rough, wound up sitting very nicely, leaving 218 to a green fronted by a small stream then a sand trap. Hit my 2 hybrid perfect carrying the trap landing on the green and stopping pretty quickly. 8 foot putt for Eagle . Of course left it about a foot short. Yes made the birdie putt. Needed the Eagle for a 69. Not really, but it makes for a better story.

Had to be the hole out eagle at NGT from 96 yards with my 58*. I didn't see it drop because of a hill blocking my view, but I knew I was on the green, just didn't know it was in the cup.

My best shot was taking the photo of Egor posing by the hole after his eagle. Beyond that I really didn't have a single best shot. It was more of a collection of shots leading to my first ever sub par round of a 3 under 68. |

Easy: on 2/24/17, I had my first (and only, so far) hole-in-one, from 174 yds. The ball never left the flag, landed and rolled for a while and then I didn't see it. It wasn't on the green, couldn't have gone over the hill at the back, so I checked the cup and there it was! :)

I still remember chatting with Dan, Jon, and Army about HOW you made that considering at least 3 of us in our group hit shots that looked really good, and we all ended up on the left fringe because of the hard slope going from right to left on that green. Getting the text you'd holed it, I rode up to that green thinking, "If he could do it, no reason why I can't either." Yet we weren't even on the surface. Some guys have all the luck. |

Best shot?
3rd shot on the par 5 #17 at Pinehurst. Playing with Kelcey and Lee. 1st topped 2nd topped 3rd shot, left rough above a bunker, left foot over 12 inches above the left. Sitting 234 from the hole. Hit it to 8 feet. Easy 2 putt for par. Highest pressure shot I pulled off? Tee shot on the 1st hole at Tobacco Road. Got on the green in 2 and got a 2 putt birdie. |

I didn't get to play much so it isn't really hard to say that my two best shots this year were at Tobacco Road during NGT. The first was a hole out eagle that COG, Jon and Highlander witnessed. The second being a hole out eagle that Vince and Egor witnessed.

I know that Vince and. Scott H are are thinking about hole 3 at Tobacco Road, But that shot fell a quarter inch away from being great.
As far as a great shot that netted a great result, it was a couple of months ago at Shulas golf club on hole 16. Hit a decent drive and had 260 into the hole. I hit a really nice 3W that road the flag the entire way. Landed 5 feet away and made the Eagle putt. The shot was really nice to watch. I’ll post the pic of the near Ace though... just to piss me off. |

Only played one round this year so it's easy enough to choose. I was playing rented clubs and I pushed my approach shot on the 3rd at Boise Ranch. Luckily, the flag was on the left side so I had plenty of room to work with. Since my rentals didn't have a sand or lob wedge, I pulled the gap and aimed to a target halfway on the green. Soon as I made contact I know it would be close... Ball tracked right at the hole, hit the pin and dropped. Hadn't played a round in a year and a half and got birdie 3 holes in. Even got a 2nd birdie on 11.

Second shot on the short par 4 5th at Makefield Highlands in a Philly Club event. First shot was a five iron to the right side of the fairway, second shot was a 3/4 52* about 95 yards down hill, landed short of the hole and rolled in for eagle! We won't talk about the double that followed on the next hole...
