I'm having an impossible time working the ball left to right these days. I want to blame it on the injury but regardless of the cause, I need to work this out. The pain is subsiding a little with time, but I've reverted back to a terribly in to out swing path and become very one dimensional again. Trying to hit a cut results in a 50-yd block and my GIR's are going to suffer badly at the big boy tracks. I'm getting frustrated and need something to get my swing path back on track that will allow me to start working the ball again. Anybody ever fight with their path getting too far from the inside? (It might all be for not - my right arm is hanging 2 inches below my collar bone now. I may just have to live with it)

I know I have had something figured out like that-- gone to a teaching pro with it and he just rolled his eyes, trying not to laugh. We would go to the lesson tee and start hitting balls--and every time the answer was better adherence to the fundamentals. My point is that students, even professional golfer students, almost NEVER know the root cause of an unsatisfactory result-- and we NEVER know how to change it. So again, the shortcut to a fix is lessons. If you try to fix yourself, you will almost certainly add another fault. Keep doing that and when you finally take some lessons, you have so many faults that he doesn't know where to start. Larry Generally true, but typically overstated. They are rare, but I know a few folks, including a few on this board that CAN and DO often find the cause of "an unsatisfactory result" and "know how to change it". |

When practicing you could simply reverse the "draw the ball" drill. Place an empty plastic bottle on the inside of the ball and then miss it. Sometimes a 5¢ bottle goes a long way.
If you want to stop the path in one swing...use a glass bottle. PS...KIDS THATS A JOKE! |

I'll just go to the range and work on my grip or something. That'll fix everything. |

I can't remember the last time I played 18 holes and hit every shot the way I wanted to. Because I've never done that. I don't know that anyone ever has. We all need to course correct a little and knowing your swing and being able to tweak mid round is something that a lot of better players have learned. So once again, Larry is wrong. |

Never, EVER, do slow motion drills. That would cause you to hit it down the middle 345 yards, with your 3W. |

I have only played 5 holes on the past month and a half but my problem has been the exact opposite. I am coming at the ball from the inside but I am not releasing, or better yet I am releasing late meaning my face is open creating a fade when I prefer a draw. My last 5 holes I didn't miss a fairway, but I was unhappy because my ball was curving the wrong way each time.
In the grand scheme of things who cares if it plays...or at least if you account for it. |

As I writeI am sitting on my porch, listening to a conference call overlooking the 7th green of mycourse. More ggolf ahead in Florida...hoping to play Streamsong soon. |

Coincidentally, I have a tee time set up next Friday at Streamsong Red. I couldn't stay away, so I booked it around a short trip I need to make in central FL. Will probably get over to World Woods for Thurs. Haven't been there in over 2 years. Can't wait to play Streamsong! |

I'll be taking lots of pictures and will post a few. World Woods - Pine Barrens is a bonafide Top 100 course. It's about 30-40 mins north of where you will be, but worth the trip. Rolling Oaks course is very nice also. It's like playing Pinehurst for $35. |

so you want to hit a pull fade? not sure why
a power fade or push fade is probably the better shot and would only take a few small changes to alignment and clubface when you guys are saying 'open the clubface', what exactly are you saying? open in relation to what? I know I can hit a draw with an 'open clubface' the main issue at hand is that the OP is coming too far from the inside (50yd block). moving the ball slightly forward in the stance will change your path |
