Hey all,
So I had probably the best 9 hole round ever walking for the 1st time; shot a 41 with 5 pars a double and 3 bogeys...and I'm excited to say the least. I went to the course on a day after a lot of rain and it was not even cart path only but walking only. The ground was so saturated to the point where they didn't even let out carts for cart path only. We have a push cart in the cart barn that a member stores up there so I decided to borrow it and walk anyway. I've never been opposed to walking just never tried it cause I play for free with a cart. I felt great after walking like after a good excercise eventhough it was hot and humid. After the round, I have decided to look into investing in a push cart and do a little bit more walking especailly on cart path only days (which walking is so much faster anyway). The problem with the push cart that I borrowed (other than it being someone elses) is that I had to put my bag on there sideways so the legs of my stand bad didn't kick out which kinda made it awkward. And most on the market are specifically made for or recommended for cart style bags, so I'm looking for one that will fit a stand bag with ease, not kick out the legs or damage the bag. I've done some shopping around and saw I few that I liked such as the Sun Mountain v2, Clicgear 3.0 and Caddytek. I don't want to spend a fortune but also want something that's gonna last. HELP, I need opinions, advice, suggestions! it doesn't have to be specially on those mentioned but if you have one of those listed please let me know how you like it. What would you recommend? Why? Thanks ;-) |

Why do you have a stand bag with legs if you don't carry? I'm just curious. For the most part prolly cause it was cheaper and lighter. I didn't like the cart sytle bags when i first looked at them. |

Your carry bag does not fit well in a golf cart and it also will not fit well in a push cart.
If you are seriously thinking of getting a push cart, get a light weight cart bag. You could get both in top quality products for less than 2 Franklin. Problem solved ! The Sun Mountain push cart is like a sports car, easy to maneuver but awkward in some spots. The ClicGear is like a SUV all around best performance and will fit in the trunk much better. I am looking forward to get the motorized push cart in a few years. |

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but have you tried craigslist? I bet you could pick up a used one for $20-$30. It might not be exactly what you want, but it would be cheap and if you decided to get a better one, you can always put it back up on craigslist and get your $20-$30 back.

I don't trust craigslist or ebay...i know many ppl do and are honest but I would be the one person that gets scammed or ripped off. I'm a LEO wife so call me skeptical but I've heard too many bad stories |

I've love my Clicgear..I've had it for a few years now and it looks and works just as good as the day I bought it. I think I bought mine online....like eBay or something.
Here is a used on I found on eBay for $50 less http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLIC-G.. |

My problem with push carts is the bag is angled so there is no way of situating it where clubs aren't knocking together. There is a 4 wheel cart that holds the bag vertical, sorry don't remember the name of it. But here is a nice looking cart, just above the picture is a video (-link-cannot-be-displayed-) sorry, it appears the link cannot be displayed I've seen that its a Bag Boy quad something; looked at those too. |

Clicgear all the way, love mine.
Played Bethpage Black a few years ago with my Dick's Sporting Goods special and while walking the course it just starting falling apart to the point I was trying to repair it as we played. After the round, I took the bag off in the parking lot and it fell in pieces and ended up in the trash can next to the car. Bought the Clicgear for the next Bethpage trip and had no problems since. |

I use the Bag Boy Express with enhanced air ride and my bag fits perfectly on it. I have the Sun Mountain C-130 bag which is huge. If it can fit anything can. It is also easy to push. Just make sure the wheels have air in them.

Clicgear does seem to be the Cadillac of carts (back when Cadillacs were the Cadillac!), but I bought a Bagboy cart for $100 on RockBottom, and it is a very good cart too. I also struggled with the whole issue of my stand bag not fitting perfectly on the cart. I kept thinking that I would still carry occasionally when playing 9, or like taking it to the range. But ultimately everything I tried was a kludge, and I finally bought a lightweight cart bag. Now I wish I had done that 2 years earlier! I only use the cart now, and at the range the ground is level enough that the cart bag stands up reasonably well.
Most important feature when you get a push cart: get one with a hand activated brake. My first cart had a foot break, and that is a pain to activate, so then you skip using the brake even when you should, and the next thing you know the cart is rolling toward a pond. Hand brake is so easy I almost always set it. |

My wife and I recently bought pull carts. Here is a picture of mine. I love it. It pushes easily, it holds my stand bag quite well even with the legs. I don't have to manipulate the legs in any special way. I just load the cart legs down, strap it down and go. The handle contains a small flat surface for your scorecard, pencil, a couple of golf balls and maybe your cell if it's not too large. The handle is also adjustable and there's also a drink holder as well as an umbrella holder. All in all, we thought it was a decent buy for about $80. I think that's what I remember. We got them at Golfsmith on sale.
