| Firefighter (22 years), retired soldier (20 years) and part-time college professor (14 years). Married with four kids - only one plays golf (so far). Golfing since 14...handicap as low as 2, back in the 70's. Used to dream about pro career when I was in H.S. Then I found out the difference between being "coached" by a high school teacher and being "taught" by a professional golfer. High points of my golf career to date: a 70 at Oakland Hills CC - South Course (May 8th 1979); a 71 at Firestone CC (May 23, 1979) and a finally a 68 at Pinehurst #2 on June 12 1979 (Followed by a 71, 74 and a 73 for a 286 and 25th place finish). Driving distance in those days was 270 - 280 with real Persimmon woods and steel shafts! {Two months after the tourny I broke my left shoulder and haven't been able to break 80 consistently since.} Favorite time to play is first thing in the morning when there is a light haze off the grass as the sun comes up. |
