What if during his layoff Tiger teaches himself to play lefty? His right knee is still good so if he switched to playing left handed it would put the pressure on the right knee instead of the damaged left.

Barkley's doing that. Why compare your beloved Tiger to do the worst golfer on the planet?! ;) All Barkley and Woods have in common is golf is that Hank Haney taught them and got them nowhere in improving their games.

what if Tiger does switch then wins the 5 majors needed not only to eclipse jack but pass your prceious Phil for majors won by lefties. :)

A friend I golf with regularly injured his right arm in a motorcycle accident about five years ago. He was a pretty good golfer, playing to around a 7 or 8. After several surgeries he couldn't swing the club right-handed any more, so he switched to southpaw. He plays to a 12 now. It was a remarkable transformation to watch, going from shooting 130 to consistently in the mid-80's with the occasional round in the 70's. in just a few years. I don't think I'd have the patience to make the change.

That is awsome! I tried to teach myself to write with my left hand and couldnt do it. I would hate to see what my swing would look like as a lefty.

That's crazy.

I switch hit in baseball and do so well enough that few people can tell which is my natural side, but every left-handed golf swing I've ever taken has felt and looked like the proverbial unfolding lawn chair. It would take me 10 years just to get to the point where I could finish a round left-handed ... that's how ugly it feels and how impossible that feat is that your friend pulled off.

Ever hit any shots left-handed because your ball is up against a fence or tree or whatever and there's no alternative? I've had to 5-6 times this season alone, and I've gotten more and more worse at it over the years. I need to practice it on the range.

I read somewhere that during practice rounds some of the pros righty-lefty will hit shots with each others clubs. Mickelson is right handed for everything other than golf. Same with Mike Weir.

When you think about it, Woods hit that shot at the Players Championship left handed using a right handed club turned toe down. I would imagine most pros could hit a "real" left handed club 10 times better then most of us.

My sister taught herself to write left handed "in case something happened" to her right arm... LOL When I heard about it, I taught myself to

Most pros can play pretty well on the other side. Vijay can play left handed and I think Immleman is a natural lefty (Phil was mentioned already). Didn't Mac qualify for a tournament as both a righty and a lefty?

Mac tried but the Tour didn't let him. He was wanting to sign up as Mac O'Grady 1 and Mac O'Grady 2. BUT, he could swing lefty as good as he could righty...and that's saying a lot.

Is there a rule that all the clubs in the bag have to be the same dexterity? What's to stop a guy from having a mixed set 7 rights and 7 lefts?

THAT would be awesome. It also would be confusing as hell.

Add Bubba Watson to the list. He can turn his left-handed driver upside down and hit it 250 right-handed.

That would be great - I'd love to see him do it. Joe (a lefty) can hit my clubs right-handed further than I can - pisses me off LOL

I still wonder how many of you have had to switch-hit on the golf course.

I saved par on Riverside's No. 17 in Arlington one year ... hit a tee shot up against the fence on the left, had to whack a left-handed upside-down 7-iron toward the green, chipped to three feet and made the putt.

I also made an 8 or 9 at Memorial Park this year trying to whack a 6-iron left-handed ... it would've been smarter for me to just take a damned unplayable.

I used to practice 4-5 balls a bucket left-handed with an upside down 7-iron. If you can hit that 100 yards or so, it's a huge help from time to time. Doesn't happen often but it happens.

I have only had to switch once. Prolly should have tried to a few other times. The results prolly would have been better.
