Would you try a shot off a stone or other type of wall? I tried it once ,trying to get out of trouble when I was a foot or so from a block wall. The outcome was not as great as Jimenez's shot but I didn't have to take an unplayable or a penalty.

That was an amazing shot yesterday! Would I try it? Sure, if it was the only shot I had but I'd break a club or the ball would hit my club after bouncing off the wall.

I've actually played that shot three times ... twice at Dorado CC and one at Rollings Hills CC here in Tucson. In all three, it was a brick wall marking OB. The ball was too close to swing normally so it hit it into the wall and hoped it would ricochet onto the green. Twice it wound up on the fringe and once in a bunker. I got the idea from watching a famous pro golfer play a similar shot off a wall. Someone else might remember who did it but I can't remember. Definitely a tricky shot. Risk and reward at its best.

I've done off a tree and hit the green. It was a fun shot.

big deal Tin Cup did it off a Port-a-Potty. it was a cool shot, would have been better if he made his putt, but still pretty sweet

Seeing as how everyone that knows me thinks I should have been named "Grace" due to my uncanny abiilty to hurt myself I would guess that would not be too smart for me to try. With my luck it would come back straight at my head and give me a concussion...lol.
Just FYI - I stepped in a hole in my backyard 2 days ago and now have a broken toe - no idea how I broke it since the whole foot went in...:) |

Gary Player played a shot off the wall on 18 and won the British Open. I can't remember the year.

Gary Player won in 1959, 1968 & 1974. His shot off the clubhouse wall was in 1974. Info from the British Open website.
