Ok, I haven't been on the site in a minute because, why torture myself with a game that I love to be a part of, and at the moment I can't play it. About a month ago, I think I posted a topic about getting injured while playing golf, and didn't really think that was possible (not like what Mc Illroy did in Atlanta) but just playing, and really getting injured. Guess you can think, ok, non-contact, non-injury. No problem, wrong. Some of you may have read my status update, and thanks to the people who gave me advice and get wells. Well I took some advice after a month of thinking; I pulled a muscle in my side. I finally went to the Doctor after, Icey hot, Ice, ointments, Advil ...what ever home remedy I could get my hands on, rest, etc..... I went to the Doctor and told her that this happened about a month ago, and I was still in pain. They took some x-rays, and said everything looked ok. She gave me some stronger pain pills vs the Advil, and told me to take as needed. I did have the common sense to not to play golf. I passed my brand new set of clubs day after day after day, and the killer part, the fall kicked in TEXAS. Not for sure if you know, but we had triple digits the entire and I mean entire summer. So, the other day, I just stopped and had a conversation with my clubs to apologize to them, and explained why I was not able to play them. Coo Coo, I know right. (golf fanatics understand me) So side still bothering me, so a week later the Dr.’s office calls and tells me that they were still reviewing my x-rays and that I have a FRACTURED 9TH RIB!!!!!!! All this time I am thinking I am nursing a pulled muscle which should be no more than 2 to 3 weeks..... So all this time, I have not watched much golf, logged on that much, done anything related to golf period because I thought it was just DEPRESSING. I didn't even know who had won the fedex cup until the other day. Well, it’s a shame and its a reason behind this. I am leaning towards my focus being on golf so much that other things in life get neglected. Don't get me wrong, I have my priorities in order God, Family, and everything else falls in after that. I am sidelined (unless I can get what Tony Romo received) for maybe the next 2 months. So please be safe, and don't don't don't don't don't do what I tried to do (the thing that got me injured) OVER COMPENSATE!!! It's not worth it, and if you do get injured, hurt, or what ever it is you want to call it. Go see your Doctor.

Happy Golfing.

Leo, I feel for you. Try to remember that this time will pass. You no doubt have many happy years of golf ahead of you.

This post wants me to stay young for a long time. Exiles I have from golf are weather related. If it were health related I'd be going insane. Hope things get better quick for your rib, Leo.

Man Leo sorry to hear this. So I am assuming your now taped up as this is the only thing you can do. Basicly you've been treating it correctly with our even realizing it. You'll soon be back beating the dimples. Keep us posted

Leo, you are a good man. I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago on vacation. Having played 13 out of the previous 14 days and stepped up a workout regime, my back had been sore, but not enough to ruin a week of golf. On the second day on the 14th hole, I hacked a ball out of deep rough with a SW and popped something in my middle back. That was it for golf. We stayed a couple more days, but came home three days early, forfeiting 3 nights in a fancy resort at $350 a night. It's been 16 days since I did this, and I'm just going back to work today. Last night was the first night in 6 that I slept in bed. Still pretty sore, and it could be a few weeks before I think about playing again. By that time, the snow may be flying. Good luck to you.

I was sidelined for two months a couple years back. I was attempting to hit a 60 degree completely vertical over a tree. I swung so hard I actually detached a muscle in my neck.

I feel you pain. I tried to fill the void by doing golf related things.

Wishing you well Leo! It's a bummer that you will miss most of the best time to golf in Texas. I can's wait for 80 degree days and the crisp in the air. Hope for some rain! Get well soon.

Tough break Leo (no pun intended). It's bad enough to be capable of playing but can't for some reason when you want to but an injury makes it even harder. Take care and get better soon.
