Yeah, I know people think this is going to be about TW. NOPE!!! We all know that outcome. Today I tried to impress my wife, why because that’s what men try to do even though we have been married forever. We still want her to think, my man's got it. Ok, You ever try to do that and fall flat on your face?????!!!!! I did today at the golf course, I shot a whopping 19 over on the front 9. Maybe it was because I was trying to show her, maybe it was because my 1 and 3 year old were screaming and hollering (don't get it confused, I love my girls, they are my heart) was it because it was 106...(maybe) maybe it was because I shot my best round last week (shout out to E.W. Golf lessons), maybe it was because my daughter had this app on the iphone that was heckling and annoying me, may it is because I have been working out (I took a 9 iron on a par 3, 121 yards and hit it over 160 yards dead on the flag, sailed right over it into a river). For some reason wives just sit there and watch you stink it up. She didn't say anything because she knew it was a time bomb that was waiting to blow. She only said that I shouldn't put that much pressure on myself. I kept telling her, I am better than that, I can prove it. Needless to say all the stinking it up, all the water shots, all the missed fairways, she didn't dog me out. She just said, you don't need to take it so serious. Being macho, I was over board and at one point I started walking, lolol. On the back 9 I calmed down and didn't as bad as i did on the front 9 because I realized what AL Micheals said, what other place would you rather be right now than playing golf.

I came home and turned on Espn and saw what Mr. Woods did and I laughed because I was like, man I don't know how it feels to miss a cut, and I do know how it feels to stink it up. So yes, I am laughing at myself now. Guess what though, I am still going to go out there and prove it to her that I will be able to play this game. I love my wife for her great attitude, even though I know inside she was probably laughing really hard. At one point, she said don't use a Titleist ball, use something else, lolollol.

I was going to try to play this tourney tomorrow, but not now because my confidence is like.......... I think an Ostrich best describes it.

You shot worse than Tiger and without knowing either of you I can just tell you are going to have a much better night than Woodsy.

I had my worst round in a very long time last week too - you just gotta shake it off and know next time will be better. A break is good if you feel you need it mentally. I'm not playing this weekend - and hope next week I'll go out fresh and back to form. Hang in there - you will be fine. The mental part of game I think far outweighs the physical and skill part. Mentally you wanted it too bad - your wife still loves you, your kids still love you so it's all good :) They still think you are superman so don't let your confidence get away from you - see yourself through their eyes and get back out there!

Thanks Txgal72 for those very encouraging words. I came home last night, watched some tips on youtube and saw everything I was doing wrong, i.e. tryig to impress, trying to hit it hard, trying to over compensate for no apparent reason. Sooooo, I went back today and fixed all those things that I was doing wrong. Its a mental game for real. I see why "Will on Big Break" was talking to himself because you have to keep reminding yourself not to do those things and do what you know and clear your mind. I still get really nervouse when I am about to birdie a hole, lolol. I did birdie one on a long par 5 though. I chipped a 25 footer in for birdie. I was like yes!!!! You would have thought that I had won something. That's my 2nd one ever, lololol. Yes my family loves me, and I love them.

Well, Leo, as Newton's Law of Motion proved, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. I think I got yours. I played with my wife yesterday and did manage to impress her. It started on the first hole by sinking a 35-foot putt with eight feet of break for birdie (I impressed myself too, with that one). The rest of the round was solid as well, with a couple more birdies and no doubles for a cool 76. As an added benefit, I think I impressed the other couple we were playing with, too.

You'll get em next time, buddy. Hang in there.

Thanks MikeNomgi. Good post and you are correct about Newton's law of motion. Great for you and that score. You are right, the next time, I will do better because no matter how I play, I still love the game. We watched the PGA Championship today together. At first she was like are you serious, and I was like give it time, because the red shirt guy is going to come back, and he did. Close to the end, she started getting into it because of the suspense. I told her, those roars are getting to Dufner. Thanks for the encouraging story. And I still stand by this statement, we still try to impress our spouse as men. It's just in us.

Leo, yesterday afternoon we went to play a quick 9 before the PGA. I was 2 under thru 5, then went bogey, par, triple, double for a 40. That Newton thing got me on the last 4 holes. LOL!
