I am going to Ireland to play golf in May. I am extremly excited as I have picked all links courses built before 1900 or just at the turn of the century. Any advise out there on how to play these true links courses would be greatly appreciated.

Learn to punch and knock down your iron. Get something that flies low and straight off the tee and make sure you have a good solid stance when you're putting. If you're not stable with Mr. 3-wiggle, it'll kill your score.

Don't be afraid to putt from 40 yds out either!

I have the shoots...it is the putting that kills me!

Widen your stance a bit and keep your head still!

In case you haven't read it already there is a great book on Ireland golf, "A Course Called Ireland," by Tom Coyne that you may enjoy prior to your visit.

Drink lots of warm beer. Eat lots of potatoes. Play lots of golf. Leave the grazing sheep alone.

Have a blast, seriously! It's a great experience playing overseas. I played St. Andrew's and Royal Lytham/St. Anne's a few months before Duval won at Royal Lytham and will never forget it.
