Since I am officially on Medicare, I play the tees at the most 6300 yards.

Going on 66 I mostly play the senior tee. If I playing with a group that insists on going back to 6000 or white tee I will .

Play the tees that fit your game ... no matter what your age.

Why should playing with younger players affect what tee box you play from? Do you hit it farther when playing with younger players? This is the age-old problem that people seem to have: ego and pride. Our ego and pride get in the way of our choosing the more appropriate tee box. No one else is playing your ball ... you have to hit every shot. Nobody else ... you do. So why judge your game based on other's abilities? And by the way, I know people older than me that can hit it farther than me ... so age should not be a determinant of what tee boxes you play. If you don't have a chance to reach the green in regulation, you're playing the wrong tees. For me, a 400-yard par-4 is NOT in my bag. So I choose the tees that give me a chance to get their in regulation. I can't eliminate all 400-yard par 4s ... but I try. Golf is frustrating enough. Why punish yourself by playing from tees that don't fit your game ... just because you want to be like everyone else in your foursome? I leave my ego and pride in the parking lot when I play. I have no problem telling people I play with that I will be playing from a forward tee box. I was the first in my regular group to suggest moving forward. And by the way, because tees are rated and sloped differently, scoring a lower score from a forward tee box will result in a similar differential than a higher score from a tee box behind it. But psychologically, you will have more fun not only because of the lower score but because your chances of reaching a green in regulation have increased. More chances at birdie putts. Now, I'm not saying that you'll reach every green in regulation ... but you have increased your chances by moving to the proper tee box. So, remember, your game is YOUR game ... nobody else's. Don't be bullied into playing the wrong tee box ... play YOUR tee box ... and you'll have MORE FUN!!!

As i get older and with a knee replacement i stick to the whites. I will no longer play the blues just because the rest of my group plays from them. If interested in a course i look at yardage to decide where i play from.

Thank you Randy. You are the only one of all these mutts here that got my subliminal message. I was announcing that I became a first time grampa a few days ago and the tee color choice was just a way to fit the announcement in. And yes it was a boy. 9 lbs 3 oz.
And Jay's 5 iron would come in handy at times...

Congratulations Don. Enjoy. If you get your hands on that 5 iron I need to use it some myself.

After being humbled in Hilton Head, the senior tees are starting to look better.

Well congrats Don!!!

Jay's 5-iron is a myth by the way. It's actually a hybrid and he only carries it 147 yards...

Forget the 215 yd 5 iron. My 250 yd 3 iron was all the rave at Raptor Bay a couple of weeks ago. Spectacular!
