A new year is now upon us and I am sure there were numerous golf gift cards and golf gifts delivered by Santa. What will be new in the bag for 2017?

As for me, already purchased new cord grips. Did get a nice new Vokey wedge under the tree. Once the new clothing comes out, may splurge on some new outer wear( I hear you can't go wrong with different shades of blue).

I'm looking at getting a new 5W like the one Vince tossed in the lake.
A TM 5W... since I need to be more specific with that reference.

Exact same set I've had the last few years. Taylormade RBZ driver and 5 wood, Nike SQ hybrid, Nike Victory Red irons, Mizuno 56 and 60 degree wedges, and a Yes putter. They've treated me well, and my reluctance to spend lots of money means I don't see myself changing anything anytime soon.

New to the bag are some freshly fitted irons. Mizzy MP-5's and a new T-MB 2 iron. All with C-Tapers to boot.

I'm giving the Scotty something to think about as well. I just put an Odyssey Versa 7 in the bag. I already stole Stenson's 3-wood shaft, figured I'd take his putter as well.
I'm pretty happy with everything the way it looks going into the year.

It's a SLDR 5W with the speeder 77 X flex shaft.

I still have the matching 3W and it's available. With the adjustable head it could become a strong 4W.

Before Christmas I got the X hot Pro 4W from Callaway, great club.

Also picked up the X hot Pro 3 deep 3W. I just need some range time to see if it makes it into the bag.

At this point it's not what's in the bag, it's what's on the bag. Like a dust cover...

For 2017, I ordered some fitted Mizuno JPX900s 4-G with Project X LZ 5.5 shafts.

To compliment the gapping on the wedges, Cleveland 588 RTX 2.0 54-10 and 58-6.

I'm done with new gear for a few years I'm sure.

I added a 915 D2 driver (wicked inconsistent) and a 50 degree RTX 3.0.

Nice! I did the same thing: got the JPX900s Forged 4-G with Project X LZ Tour graphite 5.0 shafts and a couple of T7 wedges (55-09 and 59-06), one of which was free for doing the fitting. And, during the recent CyberWeek around Thanksgiving, I got two new Odyssey putters for the price of 1, from Callaway PreOwned: a #7 head and a #1 head, both with SuperStroke grips, shipped and delivered for $141. They looked absolutely new! :)

What shaft did you get with the 915?

Hmmmm. That's interesting. I think it took me 2 swings to call that Rogue (Silver 110, X-flex) the most stable shaft I've ever swung. But it's A LOT of shaft - you have to really swing it hard to make it feel smooth and not boardy. They don't tell you that it was designed with tour speeds in mind, curious if you were fit for it?

I added a Titleist 915 D2 driver 12 degree, with a R flex Mitsubishi Bassara Wyvern 50 hi shaft. Picked it up at the golf show last winter as a whim but loved it ever since. I call this and my 7 wood my senior clubs.

I am due for new clubs but will probably put it off a year. My irons are 4-5 years old, wedges 4-5 years old, woods 2 years old and my driver a year old.

I am getting up there in age and I play (when I am healthy) 2-3 times a month. Probably time to drop the blades 7-PW.

I am intrigued by the following clubs:
-> PXG Irons
-> Ping iBlades
-> Taylormade 3 wood and hybrid
-> Callaway Epic driver (a lot of early hype that their new technology is the real deal).

That being said the older I get the longer I wait to make decisions on golf clubs. In 2016 I showed some great play shooting even par at Streamsong thrice. But I also had some God awful rounds NGT was not pretty. I suppose I should expect nothing more when I don't practice and just play 2-3 times a month, but memories of great rounds confuse those expectations.

I was fit for it. I will never be able to hit an x flex. The stiff works for my swing style, speed, and whatnot. It is something I will be able to grow into.

I'm more concerned about the acoustics of the club. I really don't like it. Reminds me of an aluminum bat.

I'd like to know your thoughts on the setup and I'll give you mine after one round.

Best irons I've ever played hands down by far. Part of this may be that I'm hitting 50 - 150 balls into a net in my back yard every day so I had good ball striking on the course today, but I've never 'launched' a ball off irons like I did today. Never that I can remember. The ball comes off the face and has what I would describe as 'pretty' ball flight It flies higher than I'm used to, but I'm told from the fitter that is what I want - that my old irons never launched high.

I can't wait to play on a day when we don't have 25mph consistent and 45mph gusts.
