Can a golfer get better playing with 3 players who are not as good? I ask because I've been playing with the same 2 or 3 guys for about two years now. They are still stuck in the 90's and low 100's. I've moved my game to the 80's and while we aren't really competing against each other, we are aware of how everyone's is doing in a round and they give me a hard time when someone does beat me on a hole. Obviously we get along and enjoy playing together since we've played together for this long.
I guess there is a difference between us and our approach to golf since none of them really watch golf on tv, don't read about golf and think a golf site such as this is "silly". They are not improving because they really aren't trying to disect their swings and learn how to improve. They just enjoying going out and playing golf and if they score poorly they don't "lose sleep" over it. If I have a bad round, I'm thinking about it all week. They would never go out and play a round alone and I'd play alone every time if that's what I had to do to play golf. I eat, sleep and drink golf. We are friends off the course as well so upsetting them is not an option. I don't want to dump these guys at all but am just wondering if I would get better if I played with players better than me. Interested to know your thoughts. Do you really have to play with better golfers to improve? 72Wannabe |

Just a thought, but if you want to get better, instead of getting new partners. Why don't you try to find some local tournaments to play in? Nothing like a little real competition to put some pressure on your game. I'd love to. There's only one problem. Most tournaments I've seen are two day events - Sat and Sun. What's the problem? I'm in church every Sunday and I do mean every Sunday. Just one of my priorities in life. So tournaments don't work for me. I've checked the area and there is a men's association that runs tournament-like events every week. What's the problem? They play during business hours when everyone is working...I can't wait till I retire! |

I know links to other sites sometimes don't work, but here goes
http://www.thegolfchannel.com/../ If not try the Golf Channel Amateur Tour, the events in your area all seem to be on Saturdays. It does not say they are 2 day events so I assume it's just the one day. |
