Orlando Public Golf Courses?

I am headed to Orlando for a conference in two weeks. I hope to get two rounds in while I am there. Can somebody recommend a couple of courses that I should play?
I am staying at the downtown Orlando Crowne-Plaza hotel, so would probably want to play courses closer to the downtown area.

Thanks!

I will be in Orlando for the weekend of July 26th, I'll be playing and staying @ Champions Gate Resort, my wife gave me as my birthday present the weekend package there, just in case some of you guys are in the area.

I have looked at the Championsgate Resort for a family vacation later in the year. Seems like a great resort that the whole family (even non-golfers) could enjoy, with the pools and the lazy river.
Enjoy your trip...and Happy early Birthday!

Thanks everybody for all the great information and advice. I have made tee times at Grande Pines and at Eagle Creek. Very eager to see how I manage on some unfamiliar layouts.
Have a great weekend everybody!

I may be to late for this, but I like Falcon's Fire and Metro West in the area. If you are looking for something close to the airport, Try Northshore.

Well I played at Eagle Creek & Grande Pines yesterday and today. Great fun, although both rounds were interrupted by heavy rain and lightning storms.
My round yesterday at Eagle Creek was not until 3:04pm, so there were not many people playing the course at that time. There was nobody to be matched up with so I played by myself. After the first hole I had to go back to the clubhouse as an afternoon storm blew in. I waited for the storm to blow over (about an hour) and then went back out and played the other 17 holes in 3 hours. Lots of fun, my ball got plenty sandy though. This is a club I will play next time I am in Orlando.
This morning I went for my round at Grande Pines. Great experience with everybody from the pro shop, restaurant, starter, and cart return. Was matched up with a single and a twosome for a 7:59 start. We were sent out at 7:50 with a Junior Golf tournament starting out soon afterwards. Great layout with opportunities to play conservatively or go for the higher-risk shot. Unfortunately, the rain and lightning came early and we had to head back to the clubhouse before finishing our round (after 14 holes). I waited the storm out for about 1hr 20minutes and then went back out by myself to finish the last 4 holes.
Sadly, this property has been sold and the golf course will be replaced with a condominium development or some such abomination. I was told that the course will remain open until next March, so if anybody is planning on playing here I would make plans to do it in the next 8 months.

Yeah, we probably should've mentioned that this time of the year is usually 100% chance of heavy rain and lightning. I play EARLY in the morn to avoid it. At least it makes the round interesting though! 3 months of that is still better than 4 months of shoveling snow!!! LOL
