6/23/2011 6:46:47 PM This was the much anticipated round of golf ever. Drove up with Ricky and Mark. I paid $495 for the green fee. We walked the course. 7:40 am tee time. Everything about the course was pristine. The fairways were perfect and the surrounding areas were immaculate. The greens played fast. The memorable stretch of holes was #6,7,8 (Stillwater Cove). #6 is the famous Lone Cypress hole, an uphill par 5 playing 467 from the whites. I hit a good drive to the left. The 2nd shot was uphill with no view of the flag. I hit a 5 iron good, what seemed to be straight. I landed in the rough about 60 yards from green. I chipped it to the front fringe. The hole was front green. I chipped it in for a birdie. Next, the signature #7 par 3 facing the ocean. I hit a gap wedge from the elevated tee box 95 yards, pin high about 10 feet left of pin. I parred the hole. Finally, #8 is a blind tee shot. Used a 4 iron 200 yards straight. Had a perfect lie for the 190 yard approached across the cliffs surrounded by ocean downhill. I used a 5 wood, hit it with a little fade right and stuck it within 8 feet of pin. Wow! The putt was downhill. I tapped it on a good line and got a birdie. That was awesome! The was a course master who gave us tips during that stretch of holes. Walking up #18 was incredible. Ocean on the left and the resort on the right. There were people watching us tee off. I hit a perfect tee shot about 260-270. My second shot was with a 3 wood that went about 220 but in front of the tall cypress next to the green. I had to chip it back to the fairway to get a good 4th shot. I chipped it on the green within 5 feet. Missed the par putt but got bogey. That capped off an amazing and memorable round of golf. |
