4/2/2010 12:32:23 AM PROGRESS! Fine tuning my 'steady heady' mechanics discovered and described in a recent round, I added to those mechanics a focus on accelerating through the swing from the chest. This is a very easy feeling swing, not jerky, and you are adjusting distance with the degree of extension on the takeback, wrist cock, feeling the hip turn / dynamic tension develop, and the keys of acceleration from the chest with rotation onto the left side. Less distance involves more synchronized shoulder and hip rotation (less hip turn / dynamic tension) and less wrist cock at the top of the take back. This round follows an 11 hole +6 at Muni and developing a sense and a belief that these recent changes in swing mechanics are definitely producing a more consistent swing and ESPECIALLY, a more definitive and predictable distance between clubs, especially the longer irons which previously all went the same distance (150), I can now hit a 4i and 5i once in a while and get 175 - 160 yards out of these (the acceleration from the chest is translating the club length into club head speed). Like what I'm seeing and feeling recently. Progress! |
