So Lewis, do you think those of us who said Rory gets to ten majors are still dead wrong? Actually, I'm starting to think my prediction of ten is light.

"3) Cog predicted that Rory would win 9+ majors. I still say no way, despite 3 majors by the age of 25. Rory has not proved that he can play like this week in and week out let alone from major to major. And 9 majors...that list is very very short with only 3 players ever winning 10 or more professional majors...Tiger Woods with 14, Walter Hagen with 16 (counting his Western Opens prior to the first Masters) and Nicklaus' 18 majors." - LL

Has Rory proven he can play like this week in and week out yet? Since winning his first major, he is winning majors at a rate of 28%.

Jack said he could win 15 to 20 majors. But what does he know?

I hope I am still here 20 years from now to see how many he wins.

You will get no answer. Someone is too full of humble pie at the moment.

Well the future is a tricky thing, but on the strength of the last month's play Rory may rack up 20 majors in the next 5 years.

The prediction that came out of Wells Fargo 2 years ago was that Rory and Rickie would be the new rivalry in golf. 2 years later Rickie finds himself knocking on the door but still more flash. Rory is growing into a HOF player at 25. Time for Rickie to prove he belongs in the talk. Jason Day is another. These guys with 1 or 2 wins who are "the next big thing" need to step up and win. Rory is just at another level and confidence is king.

I have to admit, I thought Rory had the goods, but just never thought he would deliver this early on it. He's the Real Deal.

To be honest nobody saw this coming. Rory is in top form right now but you still wonder if he can pull this week in and week out. He could but it's a very different style than Tiger's.

I really like the way Rickie Fowler is playing - just a few clicks this way or that and it could have been his hands on the prize.

Really wanted to see Rickie win this one. One or two swings was difference. Looked like he was channeling his inner Dufner all weekend. Only third player in history with top 5 in all 4 majors of the year. Joins Jack and Tiger.

I actually think that it'll be hard to doubt Rory from here on out. He's streaky and he'll be under the microscope, but he's the real deal. The kid's a stud and he has enough time left in his career to be streaky and still pass 10 majors. I'm glad that we're getting another dominant figure to run with the torch.

All he has to do is get streaky at the right time, four times a year.

Shouldn't have to wait that long. 10 to 15 years.

I saw it coming, and said so after he won the US Open by 8.

And NO ONE...not Tiger, or Jack, or Arnie, or Ben "can pull this week in and week out".

I think it's really fun to see the changing of the guard. Rory was a mess this time last year. Look at him now! Ricky really turned things around too. I wonder what got him in gear. Something inspired him toward the end of last year. Lots of other guys out there that could emerge. Will be interesting to see who does and who doesn't.

What changed for Rickie was a coach change and swing change. His new swing is much easier to control than his old swing and much simpler. He is more accurate, works the ball better, sticks it more often. Also he changed his putter and putting style. But I think the biggest change was the haircut. Now everyone knows what he actually looks like and when he swings the bangs don't wack him in the eyes, so he can finally see what he is doing.

I think your ready yourself Mark. The incredible numbers you put up ever single round is tour ready big boy. With those GIR and FIR numbers, you obviously get up and down at the equivalent of a tour player. All around the greens man. Your putting at a 1.6 ave. is tour level too. Time for you to give the US Open a shot don't you think? Heck instead of TW on the hat, people could be buying MS on the hat. Your right there Mark. Butch can help you improve the average ball striking into the greens to get you rolling.

I still have doubts he gets to 9 majors or more. Nothing is guaranteed Tiger has taught us that. 9 majors is a ton of majors and yes he is 25.

Here are my issues and perhaps he is found something:

He is just not consistent. Sure we judge him now when he is hot, but the guy is the streaker player on both tours. When he is on he is awesome, when he is off he is pedestrian at best. Tiger at 25 was winning 25-35% of ALL the tournaments he played in.

What Rory may have going for him is the declining numbers in golf. If the trend continues you will see even less athletes playing in 10 years. You have Phil and Tiger near the end of their runs.

9 majors is a ton of majors...the list of players who haven't won 9 majors is a who's who of golf history...

Harry Vardon
Sam Snead
Byron Nelson
Arnold Palmer
Phil Mickelson

I could go through the entire list of Hall of Famers with the exceptions of...
Jack Nicklaus
Tiger Woods
Walter. Hagen
Ben Hogan
Bobby Jones (including amateurs)
John Ball, Jr (including amateurs)

You know what those players were capable of? All of them have win percentages in their prime around 25% or better in tournaments and majors.

Never get cocky after 4 majors...there is a slew of major winners that were hot for a short period of time and burnt out. Byron Nelson heads up that list.

That being said...if Rory can bottle up what he is playing with right now...he has a better chance than I gave him after his historic US Open.

Still too early. I want to see what happens in 2015...if he gets off this streak then who knows...if he wins another major then maybe I would concede the possibility.

HOWEVER...to get to 9 he would have to win as many majors as Phil Mickelson has won in his career. And I believe Phil is more talented that Rory.
