Got the results of a MRI on my back this morning. Doc knows I play golf so he says "Well, you and Tiger have one thing common. You need surgery." So I asked if they are now going to call the procedure Tiger Surgery a la Tommy John.

Two herniated discs and severely pinched nerve. I've been to the range twice and have been able to swing with no problems. However, sitting, standing, and walking can be very painful. Constant sciatica makes my legs numb one minute and hurt the next. I can see ho Tiger could hit the ball but barely walk down hills.

I can try non-surgical options but his thoughts are they are only a stop gap. Surgery would have me out 6-8 weeks. I am absolutely dying to get on a course and can't imagine having to wait until June.

Good luck with whatever option you decide on. Either way get well soon.

Perhaps 6-8 weeks sounds a little optimistic with 2 herniated disks?

Get it done now, Shawn. You don't want to be miserable all summer and play half-ass golf. Good luck.

One is real bad and causing the pinched nerve but he said to take care of the other at the same time. It would be a laparoscopic procedure and the recovery is much quicker that way.

Ouch. Get it out of the way so you're back in time to contend for the Philly Club Championship in October.

None of that sounds good, take it easy and be well.

Get it taken care of a soon as possible. The longer you wait, the longer you will be in pain. Good luck!

Shawn really sorry to hear that. It's no fun being in pain and no fun being away from the game. Whatever you choose hold on to the fact that this is only temporary.
