Is it me or is this site losing the interest of a lot of people? I admit I only come here occasionally now that I don't need to post scores here but it seems the forums are pretty dead.

Maybe. I feel like perhaps the reason why it seemed like the site was at such a high a few months ago was because me, Vince, Jay, Daniel, Mongo, Joe, Otter, and others were being total knuckleheads and putting more material on the site than there really seemed to be. I don't know though, I think our little clique is all we need to keep things going.

I can't tell you since I just started posting scores on this site. I used the GHIN system before I stopped playing about 10 years ago.
I'm relatively new to the area (Earl Township, Berks County) and just started playing again. I hang around Golden Oaks a lot. See the "transferring scores...thread. |

Keep in mind the site has been specifically redesigned to accentuate the "game" section of the site and reduce interest by newcomers in the "social" aspect. I think we are beginning to see the results of that shift in emphasis now.
I might suggest that when newcomers do happen to make a post in the forum section that those of us who have been here for longer make an effort to be friendly and engaging no matter how many times the "Where's my GHIN number?" question comes up. It doesn't help the cause any to offer a sharp reply to a newb that just doesn't know any better, they probably won't be back to make a second attempt. |

I agree with Lee. The site is driven by participation. Stop waiting for others to drive the content. Be engaging and get others to participate. We just set up a National outing and have people flying to it and inquiring about it. There is some great stuff going on. It's what you make of it.

However, I believe that many of the accounts on this site are here simply for a handicap (many coming from Golf Galaxy) and aren't even aware of the social aspect. |

I know that I spend more time on the golf course now since weather is warmer and drier.
What would a golfer prefer ? Browsing the internet or get on the first tee ? |

This site doesn't really do anything to generate interest in the social media end. Many other sites offer articles, blogs, reviews, etc. that are written by sponsored members/writers.
I've said it in the past, that I feel things really shifted to this site being a way to generate revenue. I don't blame them, but there are plenty of other sites/forums that I belong to that sell products and services, as well as, providing content and interest in the social media/forums. |

I come in here 3 0r 4 times a week. Sometimes I post, sometimes I don't. It depends on the subject. I am a relative newbie myself having been in here about 2 years now. Have had the opportunity to play golf with one person in here (tothetop) so far and had a blast. I highly recommend getting together as often as you can with golfers in here. Jerry was a kick and a great host. Wish I could make the national gathering this year but I can't but definately looking at next year. Post, post post |
