If someone plays poor just to get a higher handicap or changes ttheir score card a little for that higher handicap are sandbaggers Then What are the guys called that don't count every shot or take that 4 foot putt as being good posts a score of 72 when it should be closer to 80.

Idiots! If they are put into a situation where they have to count every stroke, they will be embarrassed. It's better to be a sandbagger. I like Idiots, I'll have to go with that one. lol |

Cheaters? The only one hurt by it is the Cheaters. |

I usually refer to that as "Featherbedding", fluffing up the handicap to make it look like you are a better player than you are. Most people can figure out you're not really a 12 by about the 3rd hole. I know a couple of guys who like to think they shoot in the 80's but somehow struggle to break a hundred anytime I play with them.

anti-sandbagger
Those guys are awesome. I enjoy watching them meltdown over the never-ending string of missed 3-footers when they're forced to post a real number in a tournament. |

Pencil whipped, they are beat before they get on the tee box.

I've once heard it called "vanity players"; posting only the good rounds and not the bad to make their handicap look like they're better than they actually are. In fact, I know of a few guys at my course that are like that.
It was quite hilairous when one of them entered the club championship as like a 2 and shot 98/105 from the tips. The other entered as a +0.1 and shot a 92/95. I know the course was playing tough but come on why embarrass oneself and try to showboat. The guy who won is a 7 or 8 with 85/80 so the course couldn't have playing that tough. |

Sandbaggers are the worst kind. These guys are the ones that can wipe out a good tournament real fast whether it be bowling, golf or whatever. These guys are the ones that can get into your pocket so to speak. They walk away with the winnings laughing while having an affect on the game(s).
One that wants to make himself look good will lose and has no affect on the overall game(s) but only himself. I would rather have the wannabe scratch player. Only hurting themselves not others. Self-destruction? So be it. Sandbaggers? Too many 4 letter words unappropriate here. |

Your right a sandbagger can run away with tournament. the wannabe can hurt himself unless he is on your team and then he can take down the team. I play in a tournament with my Dad in June, It's 3 days, one thing they have done to help stop sandbaggers from running away with anything. You play your lowest handicap for the last year. |
