As I was playing by myself, as I usually do during the week before I go to work, a twosome came roaring across the golf course and went to the tee-box of the next hole and teed off. One of the guys said “we not trying to cut in front of you but he has to go work”.

Mind you, I had to go to work and I was playing as 1. And they DID cut in front of me.

I had to wait for them the next 3 holes. On the next hole, a par 3, one of them said “you can play with us” then they drove up to the hole and started addressing their balls. Then they decided to wave me on. When I got to the green I see one of them is using a ball exactly like the one I couldn’t in an open space earlier in the round. With the same ball marking I use. (I lost it on the hole I saw them roaring across the course to cut in front of me.)

Whatever happened to golf etiquette.

Needless to say my focus wasn’t on my game.

I would have prolly flipped out if some one did this. I was sitting on the first tee box today and a twosome was sitting infront of me on the box. They said that the play in 2hrs45min but if I catch them they would let me play through. I could tell after they teed off that they were going to take forever. They were playing from the back tees and there tee shot left them a shot into the green that was longer than what they hit their ball off the tee. I wound up waiting for them after every shot and on every tee boxbut they never offered to let me play through. Finally on hole 6 they had to turn around because one of them left a wedge beside the green and I just went past them without a word an kept on with my game. I think I ended up playing 1hr30min faster than them.

I don't play in a time window for plenty of reasons ... one of them is specifically so I can let morons like these morons play through and not have to worry about them.

Suffice it to say, everybody thinks the world revolves around them.

You are way nicer than me - I wouldn't have been ugly but I would have definitely let them know that I too had to go to work and so they were more than welcome to fall in line behind me and I would be sure not to hold them up.

I told them I had to go to work. They just went on in front of me.

Since many people have evidently never learned golf etiquette, I consider it my duty to educate them. I would have told them that they were rude and ignorant. If they have no more respect for the game, the rules of the game, the etiquette, and other players, then they don't deserve to be on a golf course.

Public humiliation can be a strong motivator. I think that we serious and respectful players should take every opportunity to correct rude and ignorant slobs like these guys every chance we can - and to do it in the most patronizing and embarrassing way possible.

The other day, a guy hit right past me without yelling fore. We weren't playing slow, as we had to wait for the green to clear before we hit. I got in my cart and drove all the way back down the fairway to the tee and instructed him that he should yell, "Fore!" whenever he hits a ball that might land close to another person. I am not an a##hole. I am a very affable and laid back guy. I'm just sick of putting on bumpy greens, or finding my ball in shoe prints in a bunker.

I'm astounded that you kept your cool when it came to the ball thing. I, too, have a very distinct ball mark, and I would have come unglued if I had caught a guy playing my ball. Again, public humiliation would have been my method. If people like that act like children on a golf course then they should be treated like children. I can't wait to suggest to some hack that he attend a few First Tee clinics because they teach golf etiquette there.

I like your rant. So there's my rant to add to yours. Thanks.
