With the meteoric rise of European players and looking at the field for the British Open, I am trying to determine who the next American player to win a major will be and when.

Goynes brought up Tom Watson winning the British this week and I think Tom has as good of chance as any American player, due to his depth of experience in this event.

I don't really see any other American guys being a factor at majors for a while.
I thought Bubba was poised to start making runs in majors but I'm starting to think he dosnt have the mental make up to win a major.

It seems like Stricker should be a contender but he just doesn't seem to have that killer instinct necassary.

Phil might be able to haul in another Masters or maybe a PGA, but historically he hasn't played well at either Open and his arthritis concerns me.

There are a lot of good players going right now but there aren't really any Americans that stick out, other than Rory, I don't think any one on either side of the pond sticks out.

I'm hoping the next American player to win a major will be Angela Stanford or Christie Kerr, by noon today.

Sadly enough, It'll be probably be Tiger and he is not even active right now. Maybe a Day or a Mahan, but I doubt it.

Day is an Aussie. Nice pick though. Doubt Mahan.
I think someone from Clemson or from/lives in SC in general does it again, which one IDK: Glover, Byrd, Trahan (unlikely), Kyle Stanley, Charles Warren, DJ (coastal carolina) Sam Saunders (Arnie's grandson) just to name a few.

-Matt Kuchar,Nick Watney, Steve Stricker, or Gary Woodland at the PGA. This is a great chance for Kuchar to win his first major.
-Tiger, Phil, Watney, or Woodland at the Masters.

I'll put Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Bubba Watson in the maybe category for the PGA.

Watney, Kuchar, DJ, Bubba, and Phil are all capable. don't think Stricker will ever win one. i'll go with Watney or DJ if i had to pick one. they've compared Kuchar to Stricker with his personality and consistency but he might not get it done either. he's usually near the top of the leaderboard and he might be able to break through one of these days.

I like Stricker as our country's best hope at Royal St. George's, outside of him I like Kuchar's chances for the PGA. Maybe Watney since he's been there before, but I don't know if I can see him winning a major just yet. Phil is all but done. And Tiger's either got the swing of a hacker, his knee is acting up, or he's got a billion things buzzing through his mind.

Maybe he was thinking about Glenn (All) Day?

Tiger.

I agree, and that may be 4 more majors away

I am not a big Phil guy...but he has been flying under the radar. I am going to write something stupid and pick Phil to win the Open Championship.

It is his worst major, but there is something about an old champion that makes me think he's got a shot.
