When I was in college, I got a part-time job at Southwyck golf course in Pearland, just south of Houston. I think I was what was called a cart boy, but my duties included picking the range, cleaning parking and gassing up the golf carts, picking up the flags at dusk, and starting/rangering on weekends. I doubt I ever made more than $5/hour but the free golf and the people I worked with made it the best job I ever had. I would love to have another job like that when I retire!

I have done a little work at my home course doing ground maintenance and working the clubhouse for a hour here and there when they are short people. I also do a little work a a local driving range when things get busy but that is mostly minor club repairs like grips and changing shafts. Right now I am actually looking for a course to work at full time so that I can start the PGA Apprentice Program.

I currently work at a Private Club on Sunday mornings, I don't do it for the money, just for the free golf. I think it's a great deal.

Worked "at" or "for"? I've worked at a golf course many times, but never for a golf course.

I'll definitely marshall at a golf course when I get older. So far, though, no golf course jobs for me.

Working as a Ranger/Starter right now. It's great part-time job and gives me access to free golf on all the city courses (Denver). I hope to keep going until I retire from my real life job as a firefighter.

The people I get to work with are awesome! I've learned a ton about my game and my scores started to drop after playing with the pros and other employees at the course.

Lovin' it!

Currently working in the Bar & Grill at Crowfield in Goose Creek SC. (outside Charleston) The course is amazing and truly a test of skills from the tips is 74.4/144.
I love the benefits of free golf. I go out on the range and pratice green whenever I can and if I feel like going out, even just for a few holes, I just check the tee sheet and go.
I looked into working for Kiawah Island, host of this years PGA, as either a server, bartender or beverage cart girl, and then I would only have to pay $15 to play the Ocean Course. Its too long of a drive and wouldn't be make up the gas expense.

Hi Walter! I was there in 89 & 90. The course was only a couple years old at the time, I think. The head pro was Danny Silianof and the assistants were Wayne Higgins, Mark Barsness and Randy Mixon. (I may have messed up the names a little.) It was a great experience working there. I learned a lot playing with those guys on their "off" days. Southwyck also is home to the only 3 times I ever shot in the 70's. Of course, that was a long time ago.

I worked at a golf course, Holden Hills, starting in middle school all through high school. I worked as a cart boy and in the pro shop. It was by far the greatest job I have had. The people were great, and the free golf was fantastic. I played every day during the season. I hope to get another job at a golf course when the time comes to retire. 30+ years til that comes around seems to far away.
