When I was in college, I got a part-time job at Southwyck golf course in Pearland, just south of Houston. I think I was what was called a cart boy, but my duties included picking the range, cleaning parking and gassing up the golf carts, picking up the flags at dusk, and starting/rangering on weekends. I doubt I ever made more than $5/hour but the free golf and the people I worked with made it the best job I ever had. I would love to have another job like that when I retire!

So as I mentioned earlier, I've never worked FOR a golf course, but I have worked AT golf courses many times. I've organized and run lots of events to promote a bunch of golf products and services. I've gotten to know a many PGA instructors, general managers, and executives at golf course management and equipment companies through those experiences.

I am am starting to work part-time at my home course a few days a week. It will mostly be just locking the carts up and closing the clubhouse. It has some pretty good perks too. I play for free and get free entry into most tournaments at the course.

I got a Job at Summit hills country club this summer strictly for golf benefits. I have yet to start working there so I don't know what to really expect. I believe I will be employed as a bag boy. Looking forward to the new experience and most of all free golf on a quality course.
