Good morning all,
If you were given a choice between Calla way and Taylor Made for new irons which one would select and why? I ask because I recently purchased a set of X22's and am just curious what others would have done. |

i'm sure they'll be fine but try a couple different sets out to see how they feel. i wish i would have tried out a couple other sets but i tried the new Cobra's and the Cleveland CG16's and liked the Cleveland's better. which Taylormade irons?

I didn't have a specific model in mind.

I chose TaylorMade R7 TP irons over Callaway X20's with Project X shafts. The ball just felt better coming off the face of the TM and I based my choice on that. No complaints, no regrets.

If I had to choose a set of new irons I would prolly get a set of Taylormade Muscle Back blades or Titleist Muscle Back blades. I am actually looking into getting one of these sets fitted for me right now. The specs for these irons are right for my swing and playing abilityand I like the way that they look at address.

I just bought the taylormade burner 2.0 irons. they seemed to have a better feel for me, and the same as dday 39 the ball seemed to fly off the club better.

It really comes down to YOUR preference and how YOU like the playability, feel and how the clubs fit your game. I'm the opposite of dday39. I tried out about 10 different sets and didn't care for the Taylor Mades at all. I went with what I liked the best and felt went the best with my game at the time and bought Callaway X-20's.

I think the Project X shafts in the X20's I tried was ultimately what turned me off. I think they were the 5.0 flighted (a little too much for my game) and felt a little heavier. The TM's had the Dynamic Gold (S300) shafts that I'm used to.

Taylor Made, no contest.

I did an iron fitting about two years ago now. Spent about an hour and a half doing it. Hit, Callaways, Pings, Taylormade, Adams, Titleist, even Mizuno. By far, the Taylormade Burners were the right fit for me.
Don't experiment or give too much heed to advertising. Go get fitted. |

TaylorMade by factors beyond measure.
Callaway is and has been my least favorite club manufacturer forever. Everything I've ever tried to hit of theirs sucked ... except the old Big Bertha or Warbird drivers and 3-woods made back in the early to mid-1990s. Needless to say, I'm biased, but TaylorMade makes clubs that aren't offset a foot with soles bigger than my driver. So I'd buy TaylorMade. |

Taylormade. I've used both as rental clubs and like Taylormade a lot more.

Callaway, because I've played Callaway irons exclusively since 1996.
