here is one that we have not talked about in a while. golf balls. I started playing with the NXT tours and I liked them but then I wen to the PRO V1s Thse are good balls also but I don't think that I was hitting them very consistantly. I am now using the Calloway Hot Bites and I am really liking them. I am getting good distance and control around the greens. What kind do you use and do you think that the ball makes a difference. or is it just preference?

We are actually doing a study on this right now and will be publishing the results soon.
Many golfers dont know that there is a lot to being fit for a golf ball. And picking the wrong one can impact your game quite a bit. Check out the article for more but here are some factors: 1. Ball Speed - Different balls effect the speed the ball comes off the face 2. Launch Angle- getting the ball with the right launch angle for your swing can add up to 20-25 yards...seriously! 3. Feel - every ball has a different feel and every golfer has a different preference. 4. Sound - yes they actually do make different sounds and it does impact the way golfers purchase balls. 5. There are lots of myths about golf balls...a major one de-bunked is that harder ball DONT go farther...yes those RockFlites can be tossed....lol We will have a lot more in our article which is coming in the next week. www.mygolfspy.com |

I bought a dozen pro v1s last year and I was hooked on their behavior around the green. Plus they feel so soft... Luckily I found some cheap logo overruns on TGW. Before that I was playing Callaway war birds, which were pretty nice.
I'm going to read the Golfspy article for sure, to see if I should try something else. |

Bridgestone e6+ or B330's. I've also had success with Maxfli's Noodles.

For the price, I like the Bridgestone e6+. I think overall it's a very good ball for a lot less than the more expensive Pro V's and Nike One's.

There's simply no way I'm going to spend $4 a ball so at the lower end of the market, I have found that Maxfli Noodles fly STRAIGHT, which is a big plus for a high-handicapper like me - no vicious snap-hooks or wild slices! I am also trying out the Nike Power Distance Softs, which got such a good write-up from Consumer Reports. Initial impressions are that they are even better than the Noodles for both distance and feel.

Normally, I play ProV1 but just got turned on to the Bridgestone e6+. Great ball at half the price. I'll probably make the switch.

Im a fan of titleist nxt tour and of top flights freaks occasionally i will play others but those are the main two. I like the NXT Tour too. Very good distance, good spin, and good price! I also liked the Callaway HX Tour. I've never hit a ball that is affected so little by the wind. |

Definitely Bridgestone e6+. For the price they are just about the best out there. I've also played the B330S which is a great ball. Recently I've been playing some of the new TaylorMade balls, but I'll probably stick to the Bridgestone.

To each his own. The ball really does not effect your game until you reach a certain level of play. Then the ball becomes more important. I prefer more control around the green and will give up a few yards off the tee. I also think you can use certain balls depending on the course conditions. Hard fairways and greens may warrant the use of one ball over another.

Whatever I find on the course.....
LOL... I'm still partial to the Top-Flite Gamer ball, it boasts their D2 technology. I dunno, I might just be sold on the name, but shrug, I like em! |

I like the Nike 1, but right now I'm hooked on the TaylorMade TP Red.

I've been using the TaylorMade Burner TP. I like the consistency I get with the ball. It doesn't scuff easily and distance is pretty good. Sidespin seems to be nonexistent with this ball.

I think using a consistent ball is important, for the same reason using the same clubs is important (or at least clubs that feel good) I stay with a Prov V1 or NXT most of the time. I prefer Pro V1, but I refuse to pay high prices for them, so I get them used on ebay. Sometimes I just have to resort to NXTs, which are pretty good. I play well with both. I don't like the look of some balls, so I don't use them.
