here is one that we have not talked about in a while. golf balls. I started playing with the NXT tours and I liked them but then I wen to the PRO V1s Thse are good balls also but I don't think that I was hitting them very consistantly. I am now using the Calloway Hot Bites and I am really liking them. I am getting good distance and control around the greens. What kind do you use and do you think that the ball makes a difference. or is it just preference?

Hey Mustang, I usually use Pro-V1's on courses I play alot, but play NXT Tour on new courses. In cold weather, I play lower compression balls like the So-Lo's and Noodles so I can retain some of the distance you loose. Pro-V's can't be beat on approach shots and around the green in my opinion.

MyGolfSPy is correct. Get fitted. Hit different balls on a launch monitor or be fit by a professional...my preference is Hotstix.

I would strongly recommend Bridgestone e-5's or e-6's. There are different numbers for different swing speeds, trajectory, and spin ratio's. 16 balls will run ya $22 or so. Try them out and find your number, you will love them. I ended up with the E-5's as my personal best fit. Awesome off the tee, and deadly around the greens. Plus the cover is hard to scratch up and nick.

Balls have an impact on the game once you achieve a certain level of play. When I was learning how to play the game any ball was fine especially the free ones I found in the woods when I was searching for mine. As I progressed in developing into a mid-high handicapper I was looking for certain characteristics that the ball afforded. Now that I play to a mid to low handicap I once again need a ball to perform specific ways. The biggest thing I want now is control around and on the green. So I play with A PROV 1...I have tried alot of control balls but this seems to fit my game the best.

I have played all the top balls and I like the Bridgestone B330 balls. They have great distance off the tee and still awesome feel around the greens. The durability is also very nice!![/quote OK ill pick up a box this weekend and give them a roll.... i would assume your talking about a warm weather ball... ill stick with my precepts till it gets above 60

Way back when I started going with the same model ball for a round instead of playing whatever I found on the course I played the Strata Tour Ultimate. Switched to the Pro V1 and found they got torn up to easily. Then went to Callaway HX Tour. For the past 3 years I've used Bridgestone B330S. They hold up the best for me. Towards the end of '08 I tinkered with the Pro V1X and Callaway Tour ix. Now the Bridgestone B330S has switched to a 4 piece ball I'm not happy with the way it plays. My plan for '09 will be either Pro V1X, Callaway ix or Taylor Made TP Black LDP. For reference, I have a swing speed of 110-112, driver loft of 11* and average drive of 280 with B330S.
For anyone looking to try ANY of these balls, check out our website at www.drmulligans.com . We sell ONLY mint conditon used balls at 40-70% off new prices. All balls have NO pen marks, NO scuffs and NO x-outs. Unlike almost all other sites out there whose top grade balls will have pen marks and blemishes. |

I play 3 types of Golf balls:
Taylormade TP-Red Titleist Pro V-1, and Nike Platinum One Black It all depends on how I see and feel the ball is doing for me on that particular day. |
